On what does one nosh on the Fifth of July? Leftovers doesn't sound right, somehow. Well, maybe for a nosh, but not for an actual dinner.
There's always room for leftover potato salad.
But all those traditional Fourth of July foods don't have the right feel for the day after. It's kind of like, having the same food (which, let's face it, is really quite ordinary) two days in a row would make that food more...well, ordinary.
Maybe this should call for another tradition. Instead of eating traditional "Fourth of July foods," we should reserve the Fifth of July for the foods our immigrant ancestors brought over with them when they came to America.
Or Canada, or Australia, or any other country people have come to from another land.
