AND yes I am excused from MILLIE this evening.  The director wanted to use me even though I would miss one performance.  My partner in crime will take my two lines.

Got a pain in my lower ribs. I think I probably pulled a muscle when I got out of bed having slept too long, breathed in deeply and stretched excessively.
I wish I knew what it felt like to sleep too long. But I don't envy you the pain and hope you're better soon.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I'm in tech...

-Well, I will be in tech starting at 10:00am PDT. Since we're just doing a staged reading of the piece, our tech will only last four hours, but, still... It's tech.

DR JRand - From my experience:

"Astonishing" from Little Women
"Not For the Life of Me" from Thoroughly Modern Millie
"My Party Dress" from Henry and Mudge by Kerrigan and Lowdermilk
"In Short" from Edges by Pasek and Paul
"I Can Cook Too" from On the Town

bk - Nice Follies poster. -I keep wondering when someone will snatch up the "blank" Follies poster at Triton Gallery. It's just the artwork, no credits, names.

Btw...

I have to say that the dining choices in Palo Alto have been very pleasantly surprising. Good bakeries, coffee houses, lunch counters, restaurants.

Basically, I need to ride my bike more while I'm out here. ;)

DR Danise - About your "low energy" post from the other day - Are you spending a couple of minutes outside each day to help build up your Vitamin D levels? Just 10 minutes in the sunlight can do some good.

And now I need to get ready for tech. We had a rehearsal with our drummer last night, and 1) she's amazing! 2) it makes my job so much easier having someone provide the backbeat for some of the more "groove-ier" songs. Whew!

Wow, it is quiet outside.  They must be taking a break...nope, they just the machines are taking a break.  The men are still working.   This crew is an impressive group of hard working men.

Thank you John. It's rare for me to sleep 8 hours and that's what I blame it on!

I will be glad when the Olympics is over so that I can start getting a normal night's sleep again.   This staying up till midnight watching, and then not being able to fall asleep right away after the lights go out and the TV is off; is turning me old (er) every day.

TOD

I have to revisit my recordings of Academy Awards Songs. It seems some of the songs that I thought had the original artists turned out not to be and when I went to watch them films from where they came from the songs had been dropped in favor of an instrumental version.

Mondo Cane and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. (It was wonderful to see the magnificent performance of Maggie Smith again. I believe it is one of the finest if not the finest performance ever committed to film)

I wonder why they would drop songs that have been nominated? I don't think it could be rights because the instrumental  versions are being used.

I don't remember "More" being sung in MONDO CANE. I only remember the instumental version being played over tht turtle (or is it tortoise) segment.

I first read that as cemetery.  I thought that Jack was even busier than I originally suspected.
