The Man Who Knew Too Much is one of MY favorite Hitchcock films and it, of course, is on the marquee of the Lido Theater art that graces the cover of Benjamin Kritzer and it plays an important part in one of its chapters.

One thing I learned from a book about Billy Wilder is that if a character is supposed to be from a certain city or locale, and the research dept. finds a person in that city with that exact name....the name is changed.

Maybe there was a Dr. McKenzie or other character name....Jo.... in Indianapolis at the time, so they became the  McKenna family.....

DR FJL the stones in the amphitheatre were that color of green, and it is very shaded giving it a very nice look for photos.

It certainly helps avoid silly lawsuits.

Been thinking about this, and I will say that "The Man Who Knew Too Much" is the second Hitchcock film I ever saw, or the second that I was aware of actually being a Hitchcock film.  It was on a re-release double bill with "The Trouble With Harry" in May 1963, at the Warnor Theatre in Fort Lauderdale.  I was thrilled with it.  "Harry", not so much.  Had a few years to go before I could appreciate that one.

I credit "Rear Window" as my very first Hitch, by virtue of having seen it on B&W TV a few times in those years.

It's odd that I wouldn't at least have seen "Psycho" in the couple of years before that.  I think the re-release I finally saw it on occurred just after the above.

Still musing over this.  Maybe I simply wasn't allowed to see "Psycho"earlier.  My parents were a bit protective when it came to such things.  I remember most definitely being forbidden to go to "Doctor No".  "Goldfinger" was my first Bond, and boy, was I thrilled at that one.  Went to it multiple times.

Okay, one more.  The only "Man Who Knew Too Much" material I have is a complete set of the 8x10 color photos (assuming those came in sets of eight), again purchased at Larry Edmund's for a song, circa 1973.  And one lobby card which would be a lot nicer if its previous owner hadn't somehow scratched a thin line across a few inches of it.  The scratch is kind of interesting, though -- the photo is of Louis with the knife in his back and the McKennas looking on, and the way it's composed, the scratch looks like a "motion" line, as though someone had just thrown the knife, "North by Northwest" style.

I love THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH.....although the time frame from Jo's last professional appearance in London, and her marriage and the age of her son seems a bit rushed....  I though one of the friends says something like "five years ago...." or something like that, and the son is obviously seven or eight.....

I believe that NBC commentator Dan Patrick deserves an Emmy Award for managing to sound excited when announcing that Olympic coverage would continue with Rhythmic Gymnastics.

Silly me!  When a friend asked me if I had seen the "Gay Olympic Diver," I assumed he was talking about Tom Daley.  Hey, I know he is only 18, but he isn't exactly the butchest athlete in the village.

BK,

THE MAN WHO KNEW TOO MUCH is one of my favorite Hitchcock films.

It is also one of my favorite Hitchock films.

It is also one of my favorite Hitchcock films.

Is that the one where Jimmy Stewart stabs Doris Day to death in the shower?

DR DOUG R - the NBC American coverage of the Olympics is not getting very good reviews.....and reports of the British coverage make it sound like the criticism is justified.

Most under fire are the commentators and the unnecessary "fluff" pieces on the athletes.

I understand the reasons for tape delay, and I don't mind that....but I wish NBC did have better talking heads and/or writers.

Wasn't there also a autobiography called HAYWIRE?

Well, today is the last day of "Titus Andronicus"!  Last night, we had over 70, count 'em 70 in the audience!  I'm pretty sure that it's a financial hit for TAO. :D It certainly been an artistic hit.

After the performance, we have to strike the set and clean out the theater.  HOPEFULLY, everyone will actually help and we can get it all done quite quickly.  There's supposed to be a party at the home of the guy playing Titus, but I haven't decided if I'll go.  I probably will, but we'll see.

Anyway, have a great day all! ;D
