Today I am working one half day, and then off the performance #6 of Thoroughly Modern Millie.  Yesterday we had HEAVY HEAVY rain from about 5 p.m. until almost 8 p.m.

Today should be sunny and fine.

DR DOUG R - we saw THE BEAST OF HOLLOW MOUNTAIN at the drive in theatre all these many years ago, and yes, the death of the beast was sad.....

Good morning, all.

Got less than five hours of sleep due to not being able to put a wonderful book down.  A nap is definitely in order.  And on tap.  And in the offing.

For now, coffee and DONUTS to get me going.

I walked over to Grafton Street and purchased a pencil sharpener, and I am now ready to face the orchestra. The car will pick us up in 45 minutes.

The tv in my room gets 5 channel: one's showing an Australian soap opera NEIGHBOURS, one's showing Mickey Rooney in something, another's showing MURDER SHE WROTE, which I never liked much, and I forget what's on the other two. I guess I will go back to HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY. I'm over halfway through it.

Thank you, all, for the vibes. Please keep them coming!

Never heard of THE BEAST OF HOLLOW MOUNTAIN.  Must find it.

Was the 2.35:1 shown at 1.85:1 on MGM-HD?  I can't remember if that's one of "those" channels.

Thank you, George, for the link to the story of the woman who was in the whipped cream on the Herb Alpert album cover. That was a great icon from way back when.

MGM HD usually show the correct ratio but unfortunately only the titles were 2.35:1, the rest was 16:9.

DVD - Managed to get a non-commercial DVD of "The Starnge Affair" (1963) with Michael York and Susan George which I saw when it was first released. Made by Paramount, the film has largely disappeared.

We finally got some rain overnight. I never heard it rain or saw rain, but when I woke up in the night, the sidewalk was wet. And still is.

Friday morning greetings!  The potluck dinner/movie night was a huge success.  In addition to the sliced ham & turkey, baked beans, and assorted beverages that I provided, we had:

A veggie tray
2 tossed salads
Hot chicken salad
Broccoli salad
Cheese puff pastries
Sourdough bread & assorted cheeses
Gluten-free multi-grain bread
Peach pie
Peach topped cake
Banana bars with cream cheese icing
Chocolate chip cookies
Macaroons with chocolate on top

Sharon brought a frozen key lime pie that went untouched, so we sent it home with her to keep frozen until next time she hosts book group.

There were 12 (13, with Richard) here to eat and 11 to watch the movie.  One person said she didn't want to see the violence, so she left right after dinner.  After the movie, some people had second desserts.

I remember when this movie opened.  They were driving this huge paper mache dinosaur around the streets of Seattle to promote it.

I don't think I ever saw it.

Absolutely no idea what I will watch this weekend.

Last night, I watched PHANTOM OF THE OPERA w/Nelson Eddy, who really didn't have much to do in it.
