TOD:

I think that the best "sleazy New York" movies were made in the 1970s:

THE FRENCH CONNECTION
SERPICO
REPORT TO THE COMMISSIONER
DOG DAY AFTERNOON

Agree.

And I can't believe I didn't think of SERPICO.

Saturday morning greetings!  I had a wonderful 9 hours of sleep last night and have been up since about 7:30 reading Ina Caro's Paris to the Past.  We are gearing up for Middfest, which this year celebrates France and I'm scheduled to lead 2 discussions of this book next month.

Since I just re-posted it on another site, how about a

Cyd Charisse GRAND HOTEL classic TV commercial dance

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Wcf64hp_54

"I'm going to see it twice more! My husband works in the area!"  :)

So cool that the cast is still singing while the audience is filing out into the lobby.

The damn telephonic device rang at eight-thirty.  It's all spam calls and I don't answer, but the next one will be answered and they will not be happy.

Just received two (count'em) packages from Kritzerland!   :)
JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL Blu-ray and CD, plus BAJA MARIMBAS and the MARTHA IVERS soundtrack.

Also, I got halfway through KRITZER TIME yesterday and will likely finish it this evening.  It's a Kritzer weekend.

And a TIME weekend.  In addition to KRITZER, I watched the first half of HIGH TIME, and will probably finish that tonight as well.

Nothing like professional Broadway thee-ay-tur!  Looks llike it was shot with a mini-tapee, doesn't it?

Of course, they didn;t have today's technology in the early 1990's.

I think she sat behind me once!

People who leave the theatre before the playout music is over annoy me as much as the people who don't watch the credits in movies.  What's so-o-o-o important that they can't stay and show their appreciation to the creators of things they've just LOVED?

I'm going to take some leftovers to my Mom and then meet with a couple of AAUW friends to finalize our local 2012-13 programs.

Bye for now!

I used to represent Art Lund, and he was always amused by the fact that they would cast him in the "Blaxploitation" movies as "the bad whitey".

I went back to bed - didn't sleep, just relaxed.  Up now, but it's now too hot to jog - unless I jog later in the afternoon.

Cleaned much of the kitchen. Long overdue.

Now, it's time for a nap.
