Good morning, all! I miss New York during the sleazy years! Fighting the crowds on 42nd Street to get to FINIAN'S RAINBOW everynight made me long for the days whewn people were afraid to walk it after dark.

DR FJL, I loved your Mike Tyson comment yesterday.

So, today, we continue orchestra rehearsals. I still don't know if Stephen Rea is feeling good enough to show, but I sure do hope so. Keep those vibes for his recovery coming! Meanwhile, the production team is wondering if any other "name" actors are currently in Dublin, like Gabriel Byrne. I've got my fingers crossed for Mr Rea, so let's hope he's feeling better.

Off to breakfast!

DR MBarnum, answer your PM, please!

Breakfast was quite tasty: coffee, juice, toast and eggs over easy.

I've sent an inquiry to the production team and I'm waiting for an answer. I am still enjoying HOW GREEN WAS MY VALLEY, which I hope to finish by the middle of the week. The book for the return to NYC is TIME AND AGAIN.

Stephen Rea may show up to today's rehearsal, but we may not see him before tomorrow. He's eager to do the recording, so all we need is vibes that his ailment has cleared up by tomorrow.

HHW vibes are the best in the world!

BK, when do you fly to NYC? I know you've posted it, but I can't think straight at the moment. In cases it's today, although I think it's tomorrow . . .

Here is a link to a wonderful music parody called "One Term More" (One Day More).

I think BK will notice many of his Kritzerland at _______ performers in this one. It's very well done.

Good morning, all, and good morning, world.

Found myself still logged in this morning even though I hadn't been near the computer since early yesterday evening.  I hope I didn't post anything unseemly in my absence.

Coffee!   Oh here it is.

Coffee, and a stale donut re-animated back to a temporary life by 10 seconds in the microwave.

Nothing like it.

A few months ago I caught a few minutes of SHAFT on TCM and it looked pretty good to me for the first time -- meaning, I simply found it kind of boring back in the day.  It sounds like its time has come, DR ChasSmith-wise, so I will pick it up at some point and dig it.

TOD

Oh, I like this TOD.  I hope I learn of many more films than I already know.

Anything of mid-century NYC is of great interest, but I think today we're concentrating on films with some 42nd Street style sleaze in evidence, so, let me see..

SHAFT
MIDNIGHT COWBOY
TAXI DRIVER
FRENCH CONNECTION

uh...  let's keep those titles coming in, folks.

Good morning, all.

Enjoying eight hours of sleep, which is rare and most welcome.

Recording and health vibes for Elmore and his company.

Watching the silent version of "Show Boat." Not sure it works with no miscegenation plot with turning Gaylord into a rake while Parthy is uglier than usual. Also don't understand why only "Ol' Man River" is the only real song from Kern's score that is used, except in the overture.

Good morning all.  won't be able to post for long as there is lightning storm overhead.  I'm feeling much better but had to get up in the middle of the night.  My stomach finely lost it's battle with what ever it was and that was that.

I shall be going out to dinner tonight with Thelma and her husband Bill and am really looking forward to it.

Wish I could be at mini gathering tomorrow night but vibes and good thoughts shall be sent to all who can be there. Smiley  Hoping for some photos of the event!

I watched that "One Term More" and also liked it very much.

Vibes to DR Elmore and Vixmom.  Hope both are having a wonderful time be it for work or pleasure.

Vibes to all who need them.

Must put the Thunder Shirts on the dogs--be back weather permitting!

"Horse-faced old hypocrite" is Gaylord's description of Parthy. "Sour-faced old harridan."

Yet his character in this version is ugly and unlikable.
