And speaking of flights, I should finish getting ready here myself.

Got the Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess" (to differentiate it, I guess, from Jane Austen's "Porgy and Bess") from the library today. I hope it will be better than the "End of the Rainbow" recording or "Newsies," neither of which I could listen to all the way through.

Well... Considering I wanted to walk out of the theatre after the Overture... And then even moreso after "Summertime". well... Enjoy the accordion! ::)

Would you call that a recommendation?

I'm here and checked in the hotel.  They had me in a room that was not like the rooms on the other two trips so I had them put me in a room that WAS like the other rooms and now I am happy.  I'll be happier if I can figure out how to shut off the air or the fan.  I turned it to auto, then turned it off, but on it stays.

I have to say that they really take care of you at this hotel.  When I called and said the initial room was just too small for me and that the East Coast Singer had, on my two previous trips, had put me in one of the premium rooms, she switched me without any fuss at all.  And that's why I love this hotel.  I'm now in a great room with room to move.  I've already been to Duane Reade for toothpaste and stuff, and also six bags of chocolate Twizzler's to send home.

I have a new close personal friend: Mr Stephen Rea, who is not only a wonderful actor but an absolute charmer. He was easy to work with and very very wonderful to everyone. If I sound like DR MBarnum behaving like a 14 year-old girl with a huge crush, it's because that's exactly how I feel at the moment. What a great way to begin today's recording!

Everything went smoothly, but we are one song behind at the moment. We will catch up. The afternoon session was to do all of the ladies' chorus numbers and work with the full chorus in the evening. Tomorrow afternoon, we have the men's chorus and then full chorus tomorrow night.

And so to bed.

I just took a tray of port brownies with pine nuts out of the oven. And, argh!, I won't be able to eat any.

I made them to try a recipe for brownie bread pudding, and you need stale brownies for it. So, that will have to wait a few days. In the meantime, the house smells of chocolate and port. And it's off limits.

I should have made two batches.

Hello, everyone.

Glad to see that Mr BK arrived safely and is now happy with his room. Did the East Coast Singer book this? Is the trick to ask for a premium room?

The LA heat wave continues. Jane may be happy with it, as I believe she likes warm weather. I can't wait for it to cool down.

I, too, have been trying to get rid of clutter. It piles up sooo quickly!

I agree with FJL, though, that there are some documents that need to be kept quite a long time. Fred, remember that although discs are more durable software changes and sometimes "destroys" the data.

Was there a CD of the London production of HIGH SOCIETY with Natasha Richardson? If so, and if any DR has a copy, can they burn one for me?

A video from that High Society with Mr. Rea as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dWlTjw6fVfg

The sound is lousy, though.

Amazon says a cassette of the cast is available, no CD.
