DR Elmore - I'm so happy to read that your recording sessions are going so well. Be sure to carry back some of that "good recording karma" with you back across the Atlantic.

In the meantime, I am soooo digging Virgin America's in-flight music system. You can tune into set radio stations or compose a playlist of your own from various offerings. Right now, I'm listening to Ashkenazy play Rachmaninov, and Lang Lang play Chopin.

Jose, how do you like Virgin America Airlines in other respects? Any better than other airlines?

I believe Vixfamily is flying Air Canada, an airline I like.

DR Jeanne - I like Virgin America, however, I think I prefer the seats on JetBlue.

I don't have a real preference of one airline over another. I've been very fortunate that I've only ever had one truly bad travel experience. Airlines have their good days and bad days. Airline employees have their good days and bad days. I tend have very good experiences with the airlines that most people seem to have bad experiences with - or at least vocalize their displeasure.

I tend to stick to JetBlue, Delta and United, but that's mainly for frequent flyer miles. Since i don't fly that much "for pleasure", most of my flights are usually arranged by a company I'm working for, and those tend to be the most frequently used airlines. There was a time when I flew American and USAirways regularly, but it's been a couple of years since I've flown either one.

*However, it does look like I'll be on Qantas again come January. ;)

DR Jeanne - FYI - My next scheduled flight is in 18 days. I'll be flying from NYC to Atlanta for the SETC Fall Auditions. And then the following week, my vacation "loop" begins. ;)

Lang Lang?  Isn't that the name of the panda at the Washington National Zoo?

Part Deux

DR Jeanne - The one factor that seems to play the most part in whether one has a good of bad flight experience is the Airport. As much as I like the convenience of La Guardia, some of the terminals there are truly in need of some sprucing up. The construction at BWI right now makes that place a total headache from curb to gate. The new train system at Dulles is a dream! Etc., etc., etc.

I was kind of surprised at the Virgin America gates at JFK. I had expected them to be bit more brighter and cheerier - more in line with Virgin America's aesthetic. However, the Virgina America terminal at SFO - Wow! Great places to eat, well laid out, a short walk from the TSA screening area to the gates. Even though ATL seems to get knocked around regularly, the layout of the airport is more traveler-friendly than one would think. And I still love connecting through Charlotte if there's enough time to sit in one of the rocking chairs. :)

Sorry, no pictures, but a good time was had by all!

I just returned from the party. It was small but festive. Fred, Anthony, Bruce, Chas, me and Holly, who has worked with Bruce in one of his Kritzerland shows. She just moved to NY so she joined us for dinner.

Bruce very graciously picked up the tab for the group. Thanks my Friend!

We talked and talked and laughed a lot but it will just be in our memories since, as I said, no pictures were taken.

I always forget the damn pictures.  But it was a grand time and great to see Ben and Ant, Chas, FJL and my LA pal Holly.  A delightfully delightful grouping.

I had a small Caesar, the free range half chicken, and a few bites of cobbler, so not too bad, calorie-wise.

In other news...

I'm due to land at JFK aroun 11:30pm EDT.

I have auditions for MY FAIR LADY at 10:00am EDT tomorrow/Monday morning.

My body will most likely still be on PDT.

In other words, there is a good chance I won't post once I've landed since I really must get some sleep tonight. But that could always change. ;)
