Is it too late for birthday wishes?

I don't remember you mentioning her return to Japan.

And now, I'm off to my sister's house.  She had gum surgery and actually called me this morning right after it was done.  Evidently, it went quite well.

Be back later!

They have posted the position that I am currently working as a contractor. I will be applying, probably later this afternoon, and would appreciate those job vibes and prayers HHW is so well known for.

I'm late -- but I hope it goes well!

Right before I went to bed last night, I got an email from my friend, Jennifer. She's the one who runs operamission and presented the #artsongjam. When she was leaving her studio last night, she noticed that there was a Medical Examiner's ambulance outside her building, and that there was medical equipment and personnel on the floor where her (/mine) studio is. She figured that one of the residents on the building had passed - there are a lot of elderly tenants, and, alas, ambulances are a common sight at her building.

Tragically, it turned out that one of the other voice teachers, Marianne Challis, had passed in her studio. Some of her students had shown up for lessons, but weren't getting an answer when they knocked on her door. One of them knew Marianne's daughter, so they called her to see if she knew where her mother was. She didn't. So she came over to check to see if something had happened since she had a key to the studio. Sadly, when she stepped in the studio, she found her mother had died. -And, apparently, it happened sometime yesterday afternoon.

A dear friend of mine was a student of Marianne's, and I've played for a few of his lessons. Marianne also had a cabaret act, and she performed at The Metropolitan Room and Feinstein's.

We're all hoping that she died of natural causes, and that no foul play was involved.

R.I.P. Marianne Challis

I'm so sorry, Jose.

Or maybe some leopard-spotted sleeping pants?

I spent a lovely day outside. Well, a couple of hours, anyway. Most of the day we were driving to get to and from Flagstaff, which is up in the pine country.

I cannot wait to announce the next Kritzerland CD release, which I've almost finished listening to.  It is absolutely breathtaking and seventy-eight minutes of breathtaking.  It's going to make people go back and look at old threads on the Film Score Monthly message board (I just did - and wow are people going to not want to acknowledge what they posted there, including ME).  At the time, the previous CD release was fifty-five minutes of score (the booklet said it was complete - not), in mono sound, much of it derived from scratchy acetates - but it was such an important release that everyone just stuck up for it (including ME).  But in the intervening years since it sold out, other elements were discovered and we now have it all and in amazing and I do mean amazing stereo.  Dear Readers Ron Pulliam and Doug Raynes will have mouths agape when we announce - and yes, they both took part in those old threads :)

Accuweather is nuts. They are saying we are under a flash flood warning from all the rain we've had tonight. Uhhhh. No rain.

Instead of watching the GOP convention, I'm watching another Aryan tale, the second half of 'Siegfried." And also "Night Gallery" season 3 came in at the library. So there'll be a few scary stories tonight.

The conventions should have brought several chills, alone!

Tonight I switched on the TV  just as Mr. Romney was going on about how gays will not be allowed to get married in the US, if he gets elected.

It always makes me feel so wonderful to hear a politician on television who thinks of me and many of my friends as second class citizens, or even lower....and gets applause for it, no less.

And it hurts a great deal when I actually find I have friends and relatives who support politicians with those beliefs.

I would never, and will never, support or vote for someone who is bigoted against gays, Muslims, Jews, Hispanics, Asians, or anyone else. Even if I agree with them on other issues...prejudice and bigotry trumps all for me.

I am thinking I might only vote against one person this time around. I will probably leave the rest of the slots blank.
