It's my dad's 92nd birthday!

There happened to be a really big party at the shul for everyone born in September, so it was like there was a major party for Dad's 92nd biirthday.

The stumble-through was pretty terrific - everyone did great with only a few hiccups.  One of our performers is having a devil of a time with lyrics and unfortunately it's my song - and he's totally messed with his head so I spent thirty minutes trying to undo that mess - the final time he ran it he was fine and I told, as I've told others, if you think you have a mental block you will have a mental block.  If you approach it positively and figure out how to fix it rather than beating yourself up and basically knowing you're going to screw it up (which guarantees that you will), it will all be fine.  I told him to go home and just drill it and get it into his mind and body - it IS a very wordy song.

Thank you.

You know you've been married a really long time when you don't do anything special about it any more.

BK

I received three emails from Amazon today telling me that my reviews of Kritzer Time and Kritzerland (twice) that "a customer just told us your review was helpful to them while shopping on Amazon."

I have no idea if that turned into a purchase or not.

I Am the Father of Lun Tha - that's the title of my next novel, a tender story of a Jew and an Oriental who come together to have a child named Lun Tha.

So...

As I was leaving my hotel room, I checked the back tire on my bike. It was flat. I knew I had had a slow leak, but I guess the inner tube finally just burst. After checking Google, I found a Brompton dealer in Decatur which was just off of the MARTA. So, I brought it out there. They were slammed today with other repairs so I had to leave it overnight, but since I wasn't really planning on riding it tonight that was OK. I should be done by Noon tomorrow, and I'll just head back out there to pick it up. I would have changed it myself, but since it was the rear tire, that would require dealing with the gear hub, and I'm not feeling that "brave" yet.

After dropping off my bike, I headed back to the Omni, packed up the rest of try stuff, checked out, then boarded the MARTA again to take it back to ATL so that I could take the airport shuttle to the conference hotel. Then after I checked in, I took a nap.

After my nap, I had a brief briefing session for tomorrow morning's graduate school auditions. And then it was off to The Fox Theatre to see THE KING & I.

Earlier tonight I saw a production of THE KING & I. It was directed by the wonderful Baayork Lee, and it starred Ronobir Lahiri as "The King" and Victoria Mallory (of Anne Egerman and Young Heidi fame) as "I". The scenery panels have probably seen better days, but, otherwise, it was a very good production. And my friend, Jessica, was the Eliza, and that ballet still holds its magic.

So...

During the bows, the husband of the couple sitting behind me tapped me on the shoulder when Lun Tha and Tuptim (Johua de la Cruz and Ali Ewoldt) took their bows. "Congratulations! Your son did a beautiful job." -Oh... Thank You...

And I was able to catch up with Baayork after the show at the little going away party they were having for her. This mini-tour finishes up here on Tuesday, but Baayork is flying back to NYC in the morning. Good times.
