We originally ordered three desserts to share between us: The Pixie, Big Cheryl's "Ghetto" Cake and The Concord. However, DR MBarnum decided he wanted something a bit more substantially dark-chocolatey, so he got an Aphrodite too.

And he we are post-desserts:

*We're still not exactly sure what the bull was doing on the top of the pastry shop, however, it also doubled as a tapas and wine bar, so... Or maybe it was a reference to "La Bœuf sur la toit"?

And then we drove around the Hills of Portland looking at all the very nice houses and very nice cars. We stopped into Powell's Books... WOW! Then after a nice walk along the waterfront, we settled into a table at Queen of Sheba for dinner.

And since Queen of Sheba is an Ethiopian restaurant...

And after spending almost nine hours together - and enduring my near constant texting, photographing, Facebook-ing, Foursquare-ing, Tweeting, Yelp-ing, and Instagram-ing - he was still smiling. And so was I. :)

OH!

And one of the reasons I was texting and Facebook-ing and phone calling was that I found out that my cousin, Kristine, and her husband, Pedro, welcomed their brand new Baby Boy to the world! His name is Ariston. :)

Hi - last two performances of Legally Blonde tonight and tomorrow afternoon. I'm ready to move on.  Speaking of which, we auditioned A Christmas Carol - the Musical today.   Decent audition day.   DP and I are going out for some 'Pho.  I hope I know what to do....

DR Matthew - Whatever you do/did, I just hope you didn't wear a white shirt to the pho parlor. ::)

And in a few hours, DR MBarnum will be kidnapping taking me around for the day. In the meantime, I think I'm just going to enjoy the quiet morning in my hotel room. I had thought about heading to Voodoo Doughnut, but I think I need a Day Without Doughnuts. But that could change. ;)

I was very disappointed in the doughnut's once I finally got to taste them.  I was very glad I decided not to wait in the hour line.  They were ok but, to me, not worth the lines for them.

I've heard that some of the flavors at Voodoo can be a bit "hyped" up. However, I've also been advised to always ask "What just came out of the fryer?" since not all of their varieties turnover at the same rate. Freshest is bestest. ;)

Great photos, DR Jose!

I am drunk on my ass and heading to bed. The dinner was wonderful.

And now...

I think I'm just going to relax in my hotel room for the evening. Tomorrow I'm meeting up with a classmate of mine from college, as well as opera colleague. And I'll most likely start my day off with an early trip to Voodoo for a doughnut or two, followed by a nice bike ride around the Willamette River.

Thanks, DR elmore. -I hope we can catch up in person in NYC sometime sooner rather than later. It's been way tooooo long since we've seen each other face-to-face.

Glad you had a wonderful dinner and good time. Sleep well.

Good morning, all.

Busy day. First book signing, which will be at an olive orchard in the area. That's bookended by judging a food truck cook-off this morning and a margarita competition tonight.

How exciting.  I wish I could be there.

I agree.
Thank you both.I will hopefully be up to writing more tomorrow. I'm too tired now to even catch up on the postings.

Well, it took three hours of my Saturday night, but I wrote the contextual commentary and finished it.  I'm sure I'll finesse it after a few days, but boy is it great to have that done.

I really hope DR MBarnum is back home by now. Unless he happened to make another stop or two in Portland after he dropped me off at my hotel. ;)
