Last night, one of the newcasts was reporting live from Rehoboth Beach and they were saying how serious the situation was becoming.

What drove me crazy while driving back and forth to the store was seeing how many households were not hurricane-proofed.  People had trash cans and recycling containers out on the curbs, large halloween decorations on their lawns, chairs and rockers and planters on porches.  I saw one woman blowing a huge pile of leaves into the street gutter, where they will most likely help clog up the storm drains. A house on the next block from me had a huge pile of junk piled for trash pick-up (the township sent out phone messages informing residents that trash pick-up has been cancelled this week.)  And believe it or not, I saw one family setting up a yard sale!  What is wrong with these people!

Have you been receiving the same warnings other areas have?

Our main local tv stations are the same as Philly, so we have had the same advanced warnings for days.  Plus, the township has been sending out recorded phone messages.  There's no excuse for these people.

None.

I saw pictures earlier of the boardwalk at Wildwood, NJ washing away.  That is my favorite spot at the shore.

Thanks.  I find the fake photos on FB annoying, not so much that people believe & share them but that people would put them up in the first place.

TOD:

and I am grateful that I have never had any terrible stories of wild weather to tell about. Oregon tends to be mild, and even the couple of times we had huge amounts of snow or back in 1995 or 96 when we had the really big windstorm, I was not affected. Nothing hit my car or hurt my apartment building.

My "Irene" friend has one tree down but it is away from the house.  I pray a tree doesn't fall on her home again.

We did have the major flooding here a number of years ago but nothing near our home.

I remember some whopper storms in NJ, MA, PA & MI.  Fortunately we never had major damage to our homes outside of basement flooding.  We survived all scary driving incidents & made it home safely.

The HMS Bounty that sank today was created for the 1962 MGM film  "Mutiny on the Bounty".  For many years, it was docked at St. Petersburg FL.  I visited it during Spring Break 1970.

According to reports, it was off the coast of NC on its trek down to St. Pete.  I believe the ship was much used in training exercises over the years.

What a pity.  And the loss of life is very tragic.

It is very tragic.  Not only the loss of two lives, but it was a beautiful ship

Back from the editing room and locking episode one - I'd asked for one addition, but when I saw it I found it unnecessary so out it went.  Then we made the Quick Time files, burned it to DVD and it's ready for the showing.

Then the editor, his assistant, and I went to the Coral Cafe - since I knew it would be my only meal o' the day, I had their super breakfast - eggs, two sausage links, two bacons, one small piece of ham - and I had one and a half pancakes and one piece of toast.  Very full right now.
