TOD: First date was probably in between junior and senior years of high school. I was studying in Barcelona for awhile and the trip was bookended with stops in London and Paris. In Paris, I met up with a girl who had studied in France. Alison and I decided to go to Maxim's for dinner. I wasn't really dressed for the occasion and I had been robbed the week before, so I had to use Alison's credit card to pay for the meal, until I got back home.

Alison didn't go to my high school, but she did end up marrying someone who did. So, I manage to see her at our class reunions and we've caught up on Facebook.

Good morning, all!

I slept quite poorly last night, and I have no idea what was the problem. At 1:30 I posted on HHW, and at some point after 2am, I finally dozed off.  I will crash at some point in the afternoon.

Oh we would go to houses with just lights on if they were giving candy. Our rule is only to figure out which houses are giving out candy.

guess I am confused, Jennifer.  If this isn't a caramel apple or a red candy one; then what kind of candy apple is it that you are eating?

It does look like caramel or red candy. But it wasn't sweet like those ones usually are.

I guess the lady made the recipe herself. It looked exactly like one of the delicious ones. Had the same texture. But wasn't really sweet and yummy like they usually are. I have no idea how she managed to accomplish this.

Halloween was fun.  Not many kids walk around any more under 15 years old.   My friend's house is at the end of the street, and the houses up the street have a huge block party.  So the kids do not go very far from that.

Which is good and safe.  They have plenty of fun and candy to make them sleep for the night.

DR TCB re: little kids trick or treating at 9pm. I just don't think people would answer their door. Even though the kids don't have school today it's just too late for here.

The houses we went to don't have gates in the front. So nobody had to open theirs.

TOD

First date was 1963 when I was 17. I phoned and asked out a 16 year old girl who I knew who lived a few houses from me. She said she would ask her parents if she could go out with me. I received a letter from her saying she could go and what time to call on her. I called on the arranged Saturday evening and her parents asked me in, while she got ready. They asked me about my interests, my job and my prospects etc. I felt like saying it was just a first date and that I wasn't actually asking for her hand in marriage :). We went to the local cinema but I can't remember what film we saw. We were both on our first date and felt a bit awkward.

I loved reading about all of the trick or treaters last night.  I left home about 5 p.m. so I didn't see many.  I did see many on the street here and in Greencastle as I was arriving at the PAC....

Several of the SCREAM character....those costumes are freaky....lots of princesses....vampires....and as I said....one hot dog.....

I took some pictures before rehearsal last night, so once I edit them, I will post a couple of them here.

TOD:

I took a nice girl named Marilyn to see the Gone With the Wind reissue at the big theatre downtown in Indy.....we never went on another date.  I don't think she liked the movie.

Are parts of lower Manhattan still dark?

TOD:  It was sometime in 1962 (or was it 1963) when "Cleopatra" settled in for a lengthy run at the Carolina Theater in Greenville SC.   I invited my preacher's daughter -- Dianne Patrick -- to go with me.  She accepted.  I secretly thought of her as "Cleo Patrick" but never told her that.
