Thank you for the prayers and thoughts for Ruby. I typed out a long thing about her and deleted it. It was too long.

Ruby is from my church. I haven't heard anything more about the neighbor.

DR Laura, I lost Ruby in my ramblings. I wish her well.

DR elmore I very much enjoyed your ramblings.

I guess I'm warming up for the memoirs!

Watching a marathon of episodes of CHANCE TO DANCE on Ovation.....a very entertaining show with a couple of British dancers trying to form an American company and get a routine together in 28 days.....most entertaining....

Michael and Billy - may be a couple, I am not sure....but they are very talented.

Happy Thanksgiving, Jane and Jack!

I don't mean that Jane and Jack are together.  They just happen to be the only people online when I signed in.

Amazon currently has HEAVEN'S GATE in Blu-Ray for $34.86.  Are you kidding me?  When the film was new, they couldn't even get the ushers to watch it for free in the already empty theater.

I did 3 loads of laundry today.  I should really go for a walk as the sun is shining.

I need to start working on my wet bread casserole (as my sister would call it), but I have time.

I was home, waiting for mom's turkey dinner to be done, TCB.

I hope not.  Thanksgiving was still six days away.

Last evening, I got an e-mail (actually got it twice) from this young lady currently living in California.  She filled all of us in on how life was going for her, and she broke the news that she would be home in the Northwest for six days, starting on the 27th.  That is really terrific, except I haven't the slightest idea who she is!

Are you going to your sister's today?

I was the youngest of all the relatives so when I was growing up, there really wasn't anyone to play with at family gatherings, so i went to the kitchen and offered to help.  As a result I learned how to cook all the family dishes and when I think of holidays I think of cooking and really do enjoy doing it.  Except when the family gets together and I'm the only one cooking.

That explains why you enjoy cooking on the holidays even just for yourself.  I'm sure I watched when my mother cooked but she preferred to do it herself than take the time to watch me learn.  My parents traveled a lot and as I got older I would cook when they were away. :)

My mom never really showed me how to do it, I just sat and watched.  I learned if I was really quiet they wouldn't kick me out of the kitchen.  Of course it wasn't long before she'd say "Here, you stir the gravy" or "If you're going to be in the kitchen then peel the potatoes"  So i slowly learned.

Wow!  Forty-nine years ago this day, do you remember where you were?

I was two.  I imagine I was at home

A few years ago I went out to be with my sister as she recovered from cancer surgery. We didn't bother with "Thanksgiving." We didn't know what the future was going to bring. I think her tenant cooked chicken drumsticks in the Ronco Showtime Rotisserie Oven ™. We watched the Black Friday festivities on television the following day.

All of her tests since have come back cancer-free, for which I am very thankful.

Yeah!  that is definitely something to be thankful for

I haven't left the house today, except to get the paper off the porch.  It's been ages since I literally didn't go outside the house for anything.  I'm enjoying it.  My friends posted a photo of the food at their house, but I'm going to pass.  They weren't counting on me, just wanted me to know I was welcome.  I like that

The beauty of eating at noon is that by 5:00 I'm ready for a turkey sandwich!

I've shaved and am about to shower, and then at three I'll go put some gas in the motor car and head over to Barry Pearl's - from there we go to the home of Lloyd Cooper for dinner.  I'm thinking about following Barry and co. in case I want to leave earlier than they do.
