Nice.   I'm glad you had such a great time.

One thing I will never understand is why some people get all in a huff if you say "Happy Holidays" during this season, rather than "Merry Christmas."

What is tarnation is wrong with being all inclusive of the holidays occuring during December?

I mean really, why would you want to say "Merry Christmas" when it is actually Hanukkah?

DR TCB, I am rather surprised you would make such a comment. I for one have several Muslim friends, none of whom would be angry by any kind of greeting...Christian, Jewish, or otherwise.

I knew you would be commenting on this.

I just realized that too much of the month has slipped away from me and I never made the Tennessee Jam Cake I wanted to have on Christmas. It takes three weeks for all the flavors to settle, and, well, there's no longer enough time. What a shame.

Guess I'll have to make something else. Any suggestions?

Cheesecake or Pumpkin roll.  I have delicious recipes for both of these.

I would very much like to try a Tennessee Jam Cake.

At my niece's school Christmas concert they sang Christmas songs. And one class sang one Chanukah song.

But when the concert was over the principal came out and wished everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year. Then after she said if you don't celebrate Christmas she wished people happiness whatever they celebrate.

I would not be offended if someone wished me a Merry Christmas. But I found it very odd that the principal didn't just wish people happy holidays. It just seemed weird to me the way she did it.

Since it is Chanukah one would think she would include it.

I slept in and missed my Wed hike with my group.  I picked up to email I wouldn't be there and saw I was too late to do so.  I'm glad I mentioned last night I might not make it.

Instead of hiking in the damp weather I went to the gym and had a good work out.  There was a chocolate cake to celebrate all December birthdays.  I've seen sliced pieces of cake out before & passed them up.  Figuring this cake was for me I took a piece.  :)

Hello, everyone.

Back from a belated birthday lunch with BK. We also browsed through the newly relocated art bookstore that's there now. I asked about the new bakery that's supposedly coming to the Helms Bakery complex, but the askee didn't know. The restaurant where we ate, La Dijonaise, has a bakery, but I know that's not the one referred to in the LOS ANGELES magazine article.

The skies were cloudy, but so far no rain. A nice lunch and a nice little outing.

I need a nap. Isn't that what rainy days are for?  (Okay, so it isn't actually raining. But it will!)

Lovelier than lovely post-birthday lunch - had a ham sandwich, which was really good, and a small Caesar.

I used to go to this art bookstore - it was on the Third Street Promenade for twenty-five years - they're in a much more spacious home now, but without the humungous foot traffic of the Promenade.  I wish them well.

Bruce, I don't think you need a haircut. I think your hair is looking quite good, like it was cut just recently.

Picked up some packages and one really irritating piece of mail, which I promptly deposited in the trash.

Even though I was disappointed in the Michael Buble Home for Christmas Special.....I did discover the second season of an interesting British series called THE HOUR on BBC America.

It's about the people who work on a British television news program in the very late 1950's......I have seen two episodes of this second season, and now I may have to find Season One.....

As I feared, I now want a nap. but I have to leave here in 15 minutes to walk to the presentation at Ripley Grier. I hope I don't sleep through it. Charlotte would be unhappy and her mother would kill me!

i was planning to see LES MIS when it opens on december 25th, but after reading what Peter Filichia wrote about it I am not so sure I will go.

also they are over promoting it in my opinion which for me is a red flag.

they want to get as many people in to see it before (perhaps) bad word of mouth may kill it

I love LE MIZ, and I was also planning to see it on Christmas Day.

However, like you, the reviews I've read are making me think that I'll wait for the DVD.
