TOD Section 1:

"Love your neighbor as yourself"

balanced with the reality of:

Sweeney Todd: For what's the sound of the world out there?
Mrs. Lovett: Ooooh, Mr. Todd? What, Mr. Todd? What is that sound?
Sweeney Todd: Those crunching noises pervading the air!
Mrs. Lovett: Yes, Mr. Todd! Yes, Mr. Todd! It's all around!
Sweeney Todd: It's man devouring man, my dear!
Sweeney Todd, Mrs. Lovett: And/Then who are we to deny it in here?

TOD:

Although I thought that the picture itself is lacking (particularly in its focus), Daniel Day-Lewis in LINCOLN is the finest performance I've seen all year.

We watched TROUBLE WITH THE CURVE last night with Clint Eastwood and Amy Adams.

The cast is good, but the movie itself is nothing special.  In fact, it's slow and predictable.

However, I did learn a bit about how baseball scouts work.

I always liked the philosophy of Appassionata Von Climax.....

"What's in it for me?"

Of course, you have to be filing your fingernails while you say it.

I've been listening to a Percy Faith Christmas album: great orchestrations but a really lousy chorus crooning in that bad 60s choral sound.  Mancini liked that choral sound, too. Dreadful!

And it's almost time to head off to Carol Studios. I've been pondering routes: I could take the M7 bus to 57th and transfer to a west bound M57, or I could take the subway to 57th and transfer to a crosstown bus. Either way I end up on a crosstown bus to 11th Avenue.

Decisions, decisions!  Hmmmm. . . .

Here we disagree, but is this the third or fourth time that you've let us know you didn't much care for it?

Ah, that's for me, Jrand.   Or perhaps, the General Bullmoose philosophy of what's good for General Bullmoose is good for the USA.

Not sure when the nominations have to be in.  I can tell you we haven't, or I haven't, received one SAG screener, and I've got to call about that.

I wish you the best with that. Our was $15. I put in a copy of my book. Autographed, of course. Subversive.

A more reasonable amount, especially when the co-workers at DR Vixmom's office didn't want to do this.  Great gift from you too.

if we all agreed to  contribute $20 to a worthy charity I would be OK with that   - and frankly  a big Christmas party where once again  I am forced to take time away from my family-- I don't know I guess I am just old and grumpy and miserable and mean

I think that is a great idea, give a charity $20 and make it your gift.  I'm serious about this.

I bet if it was an exchange where you steal the gifts people would all want the charity gift.

Thursday morning greetings!  After 3 days of baking and wrapping, I'm ready to get out and about.  Lunch and coffee with Becky, with some Christmas errands before and after.  Hope to be home before the bad weather moves in...

I want some of your gingerbread.

Megasuper vibes for DR Vixmom!

Some of the tensest times in our family have been when I've had what Rob calls "Holiday Head."  Hang in there, Dear, and have some hot chocolate - or a glass of wine!

;D

The advantages of our not celebrating Christmas, no tension except the guilt I feel for not celebrating-lol.

Jeanne, you asked about "Christmas in the City." I have another recording of it by the composer, Jay Leonhart, who plays on the album and here's a recording Blossom Dearie made. I think it's a great song. It sounds like Jay joins her.
