I have very little Christmas spirit today.

I have had to work at it this year.

The family get-together at my sister's house is done with.  My niece's other grandmother and aunt were there.  It's funny that by the time my sister and her now-ex-husband got a divorce (almost 20 years ago), his parents and my parents had become friends and they stayed friends even after their kids divorced. :)

Did the ex's stay friends?

We have bid farewell to our guests after a delightful afternoon of present opening and eating.  Richard and I are both quite tired.

Last night we did watch MIRACLE ON 34TH STREET giving us some sense of the holiday.  For some reason it had stopped recording about 20 minutes before the end of the movie.  I suggested we just watch the beginning & then stop.  Keith hadn't really been interested until we began watching & found he was hooked, which was the motive for him to search for the rest of the movie.  Luck was in our favor as the last 30 minutes of the movie was playing on AMC so we recorded it & were able to see the entire wonderful movie.

Should your guests all be home before the blizzard hits?

Tonight, I'm going to see "Les Misérables."  Some friends created a Facebook event and I went on-line last night to buy my ticket...but I bought a ticket for the wrong theater! :o I wasn't paying attention.  I then bought a ticket for the correct theater (I really wanted to see it with my friends), and today I went to the website to see if I could get a refund.  It said to go to the theater.  I went to the theater before going to my sister's house and they told me to contact Fandago (where I bought the ticket...and they said to go to the theater??) and they would give me a refund.  Well, I called just a few minutes ago and after a little bit of explaining, they agreed to refund my ticket price (but not, of course, the fee...which I knew would be the case).  So, I will get a refund in 3-5 days and can go see the movie for the price of a single ticket and not for the price of two tickets. :D

Well, I wouldn't say "friends."  They have been civil to each other.  However, when my niece came out, her father (a very conservative Christian) had a hard time with it and couldn't stop preaching to her...although he never really "rejected" her, she couldn't take all his preaching.  She hasn't been in contact with him since last year. :-\

Her grandmother and aunt (and my parents) had no problem with her coming out.

Shame about her father.  It sounds as if his parents are nicer than he is.

Yes, it's not supposed to start snowing until about 1am and they're all from nearby.  Rob and Mary Linda took my Mom home and they should close to home by now.

DR Elmore:  Your CD has had a couple of additional audiences since my first hearing the other night, and everyone loves it.

Last night we got a light, but white enough, Christmas.  Just enough, didn't affect driving or anything.  Perfect, actually.  Now I only hope DR Ginny's and Jrand62's blizzard fizzles before it gets over this way!

Definitely tired here.  Methinks it's going to be an early night.

We had a wonderful Christmas day gathering with ham and potatoes and fresh veggies (with a seafood salad and shrimp before that) and then Italian pastries and ice cream with espresso and anisette.

We're doing some shopping tomorrow (groceries, not post-Christmas) and then Thursday we will drive into the city with our purchases, stay in the city overnight and then drive the car back to Long Island and take the train back into the city before New Year's Eve.

It's cheaper on Long Island and we will be buying lots of stuff. We never really replenished our larder after Hurricane Sandy since we were so busy with Thanksgiving, then volunteering, and me finishing up the year at work and coming out here for the Holidays so we decided to do it now. We will go to Costco (we have a friend who has a card) and get some things and we will also go to Stop and Shop for things not carried at Costco.

I've been setting up my Christmas present, a high end media player, the

Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0.

It's basically a phone without a phone (like an Ipod Touch but not an Apple product). I have a 32 gig micro SD card to add to the 8 gigs of memory.

I'm very happy with it. I probably won't use all the bells and whistles but it will be a very nice addition to my electronics stash.
