Ok, have all three books in my nook now.  I can't say I'll read them immediately, but I will read them.  I'm also making a list of the books in The End of Life Book Club and will read some of those too.

Hmm favorite TV Shows.   Although I watch a lot of tv, not sure I have a favorite this year.  I'll have to think about it.  I still watch Grey's Anatomy although it's getting a bit tired.  I love My Cat From Hell, House Hunters, Chopped. etc. I'd love to fall in love with a drama or comedy  but I just haven't

Why was I the last to know that Jaymes, part of the Chippendale's dancer duo competing on this last season's The Amazing Race, was gay? No mention was made during the show, but still everyone I know already knew.

He was one of the nicest people I have ever watched compete on this show, I must say.

Which one is gay Jaymes? Since they both have the same name I never knew which was Jaymes and which was James.

Back from meeting one, which went very well.  We then went to a CPK - I got some spinach artichoke dip for the table - 850 calories, and I hate half so that's not too bad.

Meeting two at three and on the way I'll hopefully pick up some packages.  For now, I'll work on some of the commentary.

Here TCB, you can check out how charming Jaymes was. His racing partner James was nice, also.

An L.A. deli we have been eating at since it opened is sadly closing due to a dispute with the landlord's rates.  With luck they will reopen elsewhere.

The good news is I had a great talk with Sharon my REAL cat sitter today. She's in a rehab facility in town and got to go home for the first time in three months on Christmas day.  He dog went nuts!   I will be visiting her sometime in the next few days.

This warms my heart.

Sorry to read your posting about Junior's, Jane. It looks kinda like the logo of the Junior's in Brooklyn. Was there any relation that you know of?

Good morning, all! I slept poorly again and so I slept late this morning. I had a long dream that had my parents and me involved in some way with a summer theatre but all I remember is my giving my mother the keys to my Gremlin and telling her that I needed to take their car and they could follow in mine when they were ready. And I was wearing a light blue shirt.

I think I will go to the New York Public Library today. I have some questions for the Theatre Division and I cando a bit of DEAREST ENEMY sleuthing.

DR cillaliz, I would go with the Norman Denny translaton that Penguin publishes. It's a recent one and I'm sure it will be much more entertaining than some of the morestilted 19th century English ones that Oxford University Press and other presses reprint. I've ordered a copy of the Signet/New American Library translation; it's a good, recent translation and it's the one I read about 15 years ago. I'm thinking about reading it again as well as THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO (only good translation by Robin Buss). I've also got another copy - I have no idea where the first one went! - of the recent ANNA KARENINA translation.

More coffee!

Thanks Elmore, this helps a lot.  I've never actually read Les Miz, The County of Monte Cristo or Anna Karenina. I almost hate to admit that, but I think I'm going to remedy that soon.  Right now I'm reading the End of Life Book Club.

Well, if you decide on MONTE CRISTO, the Robin Buss translation is absolutely superb, and the novel is an amazing epic I've read twice and am ready to begin again.

Thursday and the roads are being cleared - things are getting better - road wise.  I still think I will stay in one more day and let the roads and parking lots get even better before venturing out.

Nice you can do that.  I remember the days when I had to drive in it.  At times it was very scary.

After the big snowstorm in yesterday I thought I might not make it back home today, but I'm here.

Of course my flight was delayed for about 2 hours.

Oh, yeah, my luggage didn't arrive with me.  I'm waiting for it to be delivered.

Now I'm even more confused ;)

From DR elmore:
The only decent complete and unabridged translation is the one  from New American Library/Signet, new translation by Lee Fahnestock and Norman MacAfee.

Are you suggesting the Norman Denny translation over the unabridged version by Fahnestock & MacAfee?

The version I purchased (Hapgood translation) I chose because it was formatted for Nook and says it is unabridged.  Nook now has the Denny translation.  Reviews on this complain about problems with the format.

It is all very confusing trying to figure if I'm getting the best eBook or not.  DR Cilla let me know if you decide to purchase a new translation than the one you have.
