A Question for BK...so, what do you do with all those screeners that you get?

We're supposed to destroy them, but I haven't yet, just in case I want to watch one again.  They say they're watermarked in some way that can be traced.
I think I read a story about someone being arrested for trying to sell them.

ASK BK:

This is my first time to be around as a new book is begun, which puts me right in the mood to get into another one.  I've read, as of course you know, the two memoirs and the three Kritzers.  What do you suggest should be the next one?  Actually, make it two.

I think the Hofstetter series might be fun.  The first two are Murder at Hollywood High School and Murder at the Grove - it's best to read the first one first, but after that they don't have to be read in order, and you might like Murder at the Hollywood Historical Society as your second one.  They're very quick reads and Hollywood Historical Society introduces one of my favorite characters I've ever written, who returns in Murder at the Masquers.
You've said before that these books were available in ebook format. But is it just Kindle or is it also nook?

Oh, and I'm up.  I awoke at nine, turned on the heat and stayed in bed till ten.  I had a call from composer Paul Glass' agent who asked me to send him a copy of Lady in a Cage, which we'll do soon.  Very chatty and fun.

And here we are at Dayton International Airport!  We've parked the car, checked our luggage, cleared security, and eaten lunch.  I need a nap!

Another wet day. I hope Ginny brings an umbrella!

It's packed in my suitcase, DR Doug R, and my water-resistant coat has a hood.

Since my knitting needles were not confiscated, I think I'll put them to use.  Bye for now!

Here's a Greer Garson story from my memoir:

"Another story writer Geroge Froeschel told me took place at the wrap
party for MRS. MINIVER. He was dancing with the picture’s star, Greer Garson, when she
leaned close and whispered into his ear, 'George, if you ever write me
another terrible script like this one, I’ll have the studio fire you.'

"I wonder if, after Ms. Garson won the Academy Award, she apologized."

My guess is that she didn't.

Oh no....Patti Page the Singin' Rage!  Loved her on TV!

And she was married - at different times - to Dewey Martin and Charles O'Curran (Betty Hutton's ex husband).

Christopher Isherwood wrote that in Hollywood the gossip was that Betty Hutton could be called a nymphomaniac - if you could slow her down.

She sounds like a young lady in my college theatre dept referred to by one and all as Sin City.

Sad about Patti Page..although I don't think I even knew she was still alive. Lucky girl, being married to Dewey Martin. I should be so lucky.

I like Greer Garson in BLOSSOMS IN THE DUST, but I wouldn't say I watch any movie because it stars Greer Garson.

Deb Kerr...she just never makes any kind of impression on me one way or the other.

From DR John G:
Quote
I think you can wait on Jack Reacher until it hits DVD. Some good performances, but Tom Cruise is so flat and the direction so inept that it seems to be fighting against itself for too much of the movie. Cruise had to emote once in the movie and you could hear titters in the audience.

I don't think I even want to watch it on DVD.

Last week we watched Harry Carry Jr in the movie that introduced him, 3 GODFATHER'S.

John Ford was Jr's godfather and did this remake to honor his good friend Harry Carry Sr who had recently passed away.  Sr starred in the 1916 silent film THE THREE GODFATHER'S.

From DR TCB:
Quote
I had never heard of pork and suaerkraut on New Year Day until I came to HHW.  So if it is an American custom, it isn't known everywhere in the U.S.  I like sauerkraut, so I would love to try it.  I don't think I will wait until next New Year to try it.

Same here for the first part, however, I hate sauerkraut.

Pimiento cheese is good on celery. No one else will probably like this, but I also like anchovies on celery.
