Back from our day trip to Walsingham.  We are resting and freshening up for drinks at the Deanery and our gala farewell dinner.  We will be at the Cathedral tomorrow for morning mass and the Epiphany procession in the afternoon, but tonight's the big farewell.

I'm up, I'm up - slept right until the doorbell rang.  It is sixty-two degrees in the home environment right now - I cannot finesse or do anything when it is this cold.  I have to eat a nice dinner later and would prefer not to eat until then, but I will  have to sit somewhere and kill time so that will involve eating something.  Unless I were to drive to the airport and attend the Hollywood Show, which I most assuredly will not.

So, I'll be on my way somewhere and return right after noon, at which point I will finesse, futz, and fix and then write some new pages.  I was going to bring the laptop with me and do some of that in the restaurant, but then I'd have to send that document back to myself and cut and paste and all that stuff into the real document.

TOD:

Evil Under the Sun
A Room with a View
Quartet (the original)
Gosford Park
Downton Abbey

When I was in high school, I spent a summer in Europe with a stop in England. Got to see Smith in Stoppard's "Night and Day." She had just replaced Diana Rigg. While the play was not much, she was great. And I got to meet her backstage after the show. She was a droll in person as she is in her performances.

TOD; Lettice and Lovage on Broadway -  it was amazing seeing Maggie Smith in person, however unlike  John G I did not have the opportunity to go backstage  or meet her

Another favorite of mine but I don't think it's as well known as some of her other films

I just recorded this on TCM a couple of months ago.  I'd never heard of it, but I took a chance.  It was thoroughly delightful. :)

The packages continue to dribble in.  Finally received a book that shipped a week and a half ago from western Pennsylvania.  Unreal.  This one's the fault of good old Media Mail.  Still have a couple of things out there, presumably wending their way to me.  I wonder what's up with this.

TOD:

Everything Maggie Smith has ever done.

Well, I haven't seen everything that she's ever done, but I certainly have loved her in everything that I have seen her do. :)

Up from a nice nap. May have to do that again in a couple of hours. A lost Saturday for sure.

Well, I need to go to work for a couple of hours.  I need to see if everything is still okay after yesterday's fiscal year rollover.  If there are any problems, I don't want to have to wait until Monday to find out.  I'm sure that it's all fine, but I just want to make sure. :)

Have a good day, all!

Back from various and sundried.  My motor car has been difficult to start this week, and this morning it almost didn't start at all - I've been attributing this to how cold the garage is in the morning, but alas, I took the motor car to the local 76 station and it did need a new battery.  I actually replaced the battery just over a year ago, for which I was reimbursed by the Infiniti dealer.  Rather than try to find the Triple AAA receipt I just got a new one - of course, I found the receipt immediately and of course it was under warranty (the old one) but you can only get the same exact battery over again, and that I did not feel the need to do - and since last year's didn't cost me anything, it's fine.  The new one is under warranty for two years.

Then I had my bacon and eggs, after which I picked up three packages, two of which were amongst the most errant and truant.

That's what I'm having, and it's delightful.  Not completely lost, as I'm also getting some nice reading and watching done.  But as such a laid back Saturday, it was unscheduled and unplanned.

Are Barbra Streisand and Brent Barrett in that film?

Already have played an anniversary service at church and have got the slides in order for the weekend.  Punch some guitar picks out of used iTunes gift cards (best Christmas gift EVER) and now trying to catch up and figure out how to make this office into bedroom.  I think it might be impossible, or take weeks and months.
