It's turned cold again. That will teach me a lesson for saying two days ago that it had got milder  :(

We're going to try and get Jackie and Ken Berry to come to our Billy Barnes evening, since both did his revues.

George and anyone else who loves this movie as much as we do. I saw this posted on Castreql:

OMG!!!!? On April 9, in conjunction with Fox, the Twilight Time "limited edition" label will release a Blu-ray of Peter Bogdanovitch's infamous 1975?flop?AT LONG LAST LOVE, a "tribute" to '30s screwball comedies using Cole Porter songs sung live by Cybil Shepard, Burt Reynolds, Madeline Kahn, Eileen Brennan, and the rest of the cast.? This release will be available *exclusively* through Screen Archives.

So, they misspelled Cybill's name, the movie is finally arriving.

I do, too. Glad Porter survived.
I have that LP - Cybill DOES IT to Cole Porter......

I quickly went through the Natalie Wood DVD box set which I got recently. I was surprised at how many of them I'd not seen before. I didn't expect to enjoy "Bombers B-52" but really enjoyed it. I also enjoyed "Splendour in the Grass" which again was rather different to what I expected. The ending reminded me slightly of the end of "Umbrellas of Cherbourg" but with nowhere near the same emotional punch as the French film. "Inside Daisy Clover" was just...wierd! "Sex and the Single Girl" was absolutely awful and what the lengthy unfunny slapstick car chase was doing, tacked onto the finale, I don't know. But what a sad loss the lovely Natalie Wood was.

Gosh, Jane, I thought you were trying to finish that book.

LOL.  By then I had finished the book and begun a new one.

Good morning, all!

I've been awake for about an hour, the laundry is in the washers, and I am on my first cup of coffee. Yesterday, we lost my first choice for the role of the dying Madame Roberta, so I'm now running through mind for an English mezzo or alto of an uncertsain age, who can handle dialogue and  can break your heart singing "Yesterdays."  This ismy weekend assignment.

Best of luck finding your perfect Madame Roberta!!!

The floor's are mopped, I've sorta tidied, and it's almost 2:00! I have to start tallying receipts.

I just got invited to appear on an NPR station in West Windsor, NJ, and talk about EILEEN and this recording project.  I'm looking into how to gettherefrom Trenton.

Nice!

I am back from City Center. I got to visit with Rob's wonderful parents for about 30 minutes and that was nice.  They are really fantastic parents, and I beleve they've become my surrogates.

Before I left, I spent some time working on the Madame Roberta/Aunt Minnie problem.  For the past two years, Helmut Fischer, who represents a lot of opera singers, has sent me emails asking "Anything on the recording for Y_______?" She is an aging soprano I really like, The problem is, Aunt Minnie's song "Yesterdays" is for a bass.  So, I had Curtis transpose the song from E-minor to G-minor and I sent a copy of the song to Dublin, telling them to contact Helmut on Monday and see if Y__________  was interested and to look over the song.  I've been expecting an email from Helmut about her because I've asked them to see if his client Eamonn Mulhall, our leading man on EILEEN, is available to sing Ladislaw the Doorman..

Don't ask.

Agreed. I think it's one of those times when you need to be grateful for what you have.
