Well, I'm off.  Capital Playhouse is having a Welcome Reception for their new Managing Director, Lauren.  Lauren used to work at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts and we've been in a couple of shows together.  I'm sure that it'll be a fun little shindig. :D

Until later!

I know it's not the same but do you have a calculator on your computer? I have one, it's part of Windows. Apple probably has one somewhere in all that software.

Here's our merry troupe of players from last night.  I was out meeting and greeting after the show so never am around for these fun pics.

I recognize Karen Morrow

Can you please identify the

A troupe of strolling players are they,
Not stars like L.B. Mayer's are they
But just a simple band
Who roams about the land
Dispensing fol-de-rol frivolity.
Mere folk who give distraction are they
No Theater Guild attraction are they
But just a crazy group
That never ceases to troop
Around Kritzerland at Sterling

Watching Laura.  What a movie.  What a score.  And certainly the fastest moving CD we've put out in some months.  It won't be around past the end of this week - at least that's what it looks like right now.

Well, I didn't go to the reception.  I spilled some foodstuffs on my shirt and didn't want to go all the way home and then go back out again, so I just came home. :)

Another thing that I just got is called Ms. Taken Ring and Keychain...it's a key ring with a fake wedding ring hidden in it and single women can slip on the ring when they don't want to be approached by men hitting on them.

I bought it as a funny kind of key ring that I've never seen before and don't have.  The "reviews" on Amazon are pretty funny.  The negative reviews are mainly about it being stainless steel and not resizable...and it'll turn your finger green.

Someone inthis building is cooking a chicken, and it smells fantastic!

Oh, someone on my floor has been doing some major cooking lately, and I just want to find out who it is and invite myself over...it always smells soooooooo yummy! I think it might the University student from Saudi Arabia who moved in down the hall last month. She is studying for her Masters.
I'd invite myself over, too.

She's a lot of fun. Having seen Betty Buckley in the role though is a hard memory to erase. That said, I enjoyed hearing a new take on the score.

Congrats on that. I borrowed "Laura" from a friend recently. Haven't had time to watch it. Haven't seen it in about 10 years.

What is it with delicious aromas wafting from down the hall today? Perhaps it's an invitation to share a meal with someone you don't know.

I'm on a borrowed laptop for just a short time, and FINALLY got to watch OUTSIDE THE BOX.

Wonderful, wonderful!

Will return to that, and all the other episodes, soon.

I've continued agonizing over the laptop issue, and I know some of you will tsk-tsk this decision, but I can have a dynamite computer for one-half to one-third the price of the MacBook I'd really want, so that's the way it has to go this time.  Going Apple is not off the table.  It's just deferred.  And when I do it, I'll do it right.

No need to apoligize, Chas, not all of us have gone over to the Mac side.

Just back from helping a friend conduct a wine class tonight. It eats away an evening, but I got free samples and will get $45 for working the evening. And I got the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Something called a "pork rib-eye" and some zucchini medley with tomatoes and onions. It might have been ratatouille except for the fact that there's coconut chutney cooked into the sauce.

I've started watching "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." Not my favorite Gene Kelly or Comden and Green. I always want it to be better than it is. But I'll give it another chance.
