Tomorrow some group called The Patriot Party are gathering their  flock (they estimate 1,000 to 1,500) downtown, right by my work.

Here is the quote from their leader: Oregon is an open carry state," Tharp said. "It's just that Oregonians aren't used to seeing people walking around with a gun on their hip. We're going to change that.

I am not really looking forward to this.

Get used to it, Mike.  I was shocked when I saw a guy at PetSmart with a gun stuffed into his jeans waistband.  What was more shocking was that no one else in the store, including the manager, saw anything wrong with it.
Thank goodness we do not have that problem here. I would not like it.

Until today I didn't know we had a problem here.

Cillaliz, here's an interview with Rupert Holmes that was on Playbill today:

http://www.playbill.com/news/article/174767-A-Conversation-With-Rupert-Holmes-The-Man-Behind-the-Music-and-Mystery-of-Edwin-Drood
Thanks John G. I hadn't seen that yet.  I actually met Rupert because I was one of the people who bought one of the 10,000 initial copies of Widescreen and I wrote him a fan letter.  He called me. At the time I thought it was because of my delightful letter, but I learned later it was because he couldn't figure out how a girl in a little town in Iowa got a copy of Widescreen.  Anyway, that was when we started writing,  later met him, not long after he had done his work on A Star is Born...and we became friends.  It's amazing to me that we are still good friends 36 years later, but we are and I am very thankful for that.

Actually we had two copies. My sister brought one home from college and I ordered one through my local record store

It appears I shall have to purchase a book tonight.  I'm deciding between RIN TIN TIN or THE LAST CHILD by John Hart, or THE LOST WIFE by Alyson Richman.

Any input is welcome.

My mom heard there was going to be a big snow storm so she went to the store and stocked up.  Now, we're supposed to get a little rain and some snow, but nothing big....but she'll be all stocked up when it hits the east coast, lol

Then I picked up a package which has this new book called Better Nate Than Ever - which has gotten some raves on amazon, about a young boy who runs away to audition for a musical version of ET on Broadway.  I'm not going to read it, since I don't read fiction when I'm writing it, but while the first sentence is cute and perky, I found it wrong for a young boy.  Nitpicking, of course, but it sounds more like an author than a character of the first person.  Of course, Benjamin Kritzer was a precocious ten-year-old in the first book, but there's nothing he says that's really out of the ordinary, and it's not written in the first person anyway.  I also found ET a little Outside the Box-ish.  But I'm sure it's a fun book.

Why would anyone want to do a musical version of Entertainment Tonight?

No gym for me tonight. I am gonna go home and collapse in front of the tv and watch some of the stuff accumulating on the DVR.

Aren't there better looking things to see at the gym?

I keep seeing all these press releases saying that Edward Watts, who will play Superman at Encores!, was in Finian's Rainbow on Broadway. I was there, and No, he wasn't!

Hmmm...His only credit on IBDB is for Scandalous.

I'll ask Joshie or Rob Berman; he might have been in the Encores! production.
Maybe he was in the audience.

Can't believe tomorrow is Friday already.  I had a busy week.  I think I'm past my last big deadline for February and can spend most of the rest of the month getting work done without feeling like there's a hammer hanging over my head

Looking forward to our AACB (All America Concert Band) concert on Sunday.  I've really worked hard on the music and I feel like I'm getting better all the time.  I've been practicing every day, but my shoulder started hurting so I took tonight off.

I haven't talked about SMASH.  I watched it the other night and I have to say I'm not sure I"m going to keep watching.  The music is good but I really think the story lines are pretty lame.  Just my opinion.

But he was in SCANDALOUS, a musical for DR MBarnum!

They mean  he was in the theater, I believe he had the seat next to me
