I think one of my fonder memories for watching the show was a couple years ago when I won the Oscar contest and a free movie pass for a year.  I was at a gathering with some friends and everyone kept asking a friend who she picked, how she was doing, saying that she knows more about movies than anyone etc.... She does read everything she can find and studies everything about the movies.  I didn't say anything, just agreed with them.   The friend is very competitive so I have to say it was with more than a little satisfaction that I was able to say at the end of the night that I won the contest.

I entered the contest again this year.  I tied for first last year but they drew names or something and I got a $20 gift certificate for third place.  This year, I entered but picked a couple wild cards-which is how you lose most of the time. The prize has gone from a year pass for up to 4 people to a $100 gift cert.  Still a good prize but not nearly the prize I won...and used a lot!

We're going to have a little more snow over the next few days, just 1-3 inches, no biggie.

I finished the laundry by noon, and I've had sme ham and eggs for brunch.

I think I will now do some work on the recording libretto for ROBERTA.

Anyway....

DR VIXMOM the winning booth was surprisingly sparse - somebody must have been related to a judge....  Your booth was very well done....  And I loved your photos.

DR CILLA LIZ - Ricky has turned into quite the handsome cat!  Not the say that Callie and Boo are not also pretty.

Thank you JRand!  Your sentiment was repeated to me several times this morning.  Which I must admit, cheered me rather more than might be suitable for Christian charity

Sunday afternoon greetings!  I stayed home from Lima today to spend time with the cousins.  We had breakfast and the kids played outside.  They left about half an hour ago, on their way to see my Mom again before they head on to Pittsburgh.

Regarding the movie-to-stage musical adaptations, I remember a discussion awhile back of an "E.T.: The Musical" adaptation, but I can't remember the context. Turns out there is an "E.T." musical in a YA novel called "Better Nate Than Ever" about a kid who tries out for the show.

Found this fractal food at the farmers market yesterday. The farmers called it romanesco. Turns out that could be romanesco cauliflower, romanesco broccoli or romanesco cabbage, depending on where you're from. You use it like cauliflower, though the flavor is a little greener. I think it's gorgeous.

Appreciated the notes.  It's sad how EVERYONE in regional and community theater craves doing those kinds of shows, almost to the exclusion of any other.  I suppose that was always the way, people wanting to emulate the latest Broadway trends.  Well, they can have them.

It's fascinating, though, because 9 to 5 was a flop and lost all its money on Broadway AND the road.  And last night's house on a Saturday night?  Half full.

LOL!  Reminds me of the hot news story in Cincinnati when I first moved here.  The Hamilton County sheriff and his staff went to see DEEP THROAT to determine if it was obscene.  Then they went again, just to make sure!

DR Jane, re: your comments last night about people not returning library books.

I don't know how it is for ebooks (which I assume is what you're waiting for), but I personally return my books as soon as I read them.

BUT that said, my sister said that she only returns all her books together at the end when they are due. I would never do this because other people are waiting. But I think it is fairly common for people to either a) take their time reading or b) return only on due date.

I'm like you and was the same way with regular books even when a trip to the library was out of my way.

Keith said there is a 3rd option, that the people were still reading other books first.  I downloaded a 500 page book so that could be me if my library books arrive soon.

Last night I purchased MR. CHURCHILL'S SECRETARY and it didn't download.  I then purchased THE RUSSIAN CONCUBINE which I immediately began reading.  When the emails came in from Barnes & Noble about my purchases I replayed to them to take back the first book since I hadn't received it.  This morning the book had arrived and Barnes and Noble has since informed me of the fact.  I still might insist they take it back since it took so long to get here.
