Greetings from Toyland! Manhattan has more snow than I realized earlier, so it was both fun and a bit precarious getting here this morning.

Friday morning greetings!  It's clear and sunny in SW Ohio and our snow is melting.  What doesn't melt today and tomorrow will be washed away by the rain that's predicted for Sunday.

Richard and I have several errands to do in the southern Dayton 'burbs, the last of which will be eating dinner at Red Lobster.  We've been sucked in by the Lobster Fest commercials...

Enjoy the WSS, DR Doug R.

In spite of the stuff that needs fixing or redoing, it delivers the goods.

But be sure to get off that horrible default surround track, and select -- I think it's the 4.0 one -- for that original tight sonic punch.  For me, it's essential, and one of those audio track choices that really matters.

Are hot dogs the main dish? Maybe you guys have a lot of options. We used to have hamburgers (not sure if they still sell those). We have Pizza (but only 2 kinds). We have smoked meat sandwiches. And sometimes I've seen things like lobster rolls (but i don't think they sell that anymore).

Also in my Blu-ray player:  Argo.  This also just arrived yesterday.  I saw it in the theater last week and think that my dad will love it.  I'm going to give him the DVD out of the Blu-ray/DVD combo pack.

I have Argo to watch from the library. Hope I like it!

No fries at Costco around these parts.  But it isn't just them.  I'm very sorry to report that french fries aren't the standard side dish with hot dogs at all in the U.S. -- with the major exception of Chicago, where, by the grace of God, they did somehow became the standard side with true Chicago hot dogs.  And those are a subject unto themselves.  If you want 'em with your dogs elsewhere, you'll have to specifically request them.  As I remember it in Chicago, though (from the mid-1980s), you had to specifically state "no fries" if that's what you wanted.

I think the standard Costco special is just hot dog and soda.  If they have anything at all, side wise, it's probably a bag of el-cheapo potato chips.

I'm well aware of the footbinding issues Geishas were subjected to, but honestly!  How on earth did anyone squish a Geisha to fit in a mailbox?   :-*

Must be the Asian influence creeping into our culture.  We should have known the Anglican influence was doomed when Arthur Treacher's Fish 'n' Chips chains folded.

All right.  That's it!  That's as "on fire" as I can be on a Friday morning.  I can "feel" the silent groans bombarding me through the ether.

That is so odd about the Costcos in the US not serving french fries. I can't imagine not eating fries with my hot dog! What do they serve to go with the hot dogs? Chips?

Are hot dogs the main dish? Maybe you guys have a lot of options. We used to have hamburgers (not sure if they still sell those). We have Pizza (but only 2 kinds). We have smoked meat sandwiches. And sometimes I've seen things like lobster rolls (but i don't think they sell that anymore).

I think Costco should sell lobster rolls.

I think Costco should sell lobster rolls.

Some McDonald's in southeastern Connecticut (Mystic), and I'd presume elsewhere up the New England coast, have them in summer months.

A mail order bride? or just a housemaid?

Isn't that an old joke;

"Sir I'm afraid you have housemaid's knee."

"Well, if you find the rest of her, tell her to get started in the living room, it's a mess."

I'd better remedy that.

I think of potato chips with a hot dog, not fries.

I never eat at Costco, except for the samples while shopping, and aside from pizza never paid much attention to the food.

Interesting about Chicago.  When I've been there I've never eaten anyplace that sold hot dogs, not that I would have noticed what was served with them.
