Said actor from Modesty Blaise....or Ewan McGregor: Time Traveler.

I don't know his character name, so I can't identify the actor's name in the credits.

The laundry is now finished and I must decide whether I want to make the trek to Lincoln Center or hang about the hood.

I vote Lincoln Center - you may see a celebrity on the way....or an old friend you haven't seen for a long time.

From DR TCB:

We are having a rash of obituary burgleries in Western Washington.  The thieves scan the obits and then break in to the house during the funeral.  I am shocked that people would do this to people.

It is a good idea to make sure someone is out the house after announcing to the world no one will be home, that or have a dog.

I'm up - I set my iPad alarm clock but then went back to do something else on the iPad and forgot to go back to the clock, and if you don't do that, no alarm goes off.  So, I got up when the dealer arrived at nine-thirty and I've got to be out of here on the road in thirty minutes.

And here I am, across the road from the cows -- who are alive and well and home, thank you very much.

I asked about them and was told there are "about twenty-five head".  It's an old established family farm that's still going strong.

I'll try to get a picture, even though the sun isn't in my favor.

Cows, man.  Gotta love 'em.

We pass many hours driving to and home from town.  :)

I should have taken your advice. I  did get a nice UPS delivery, and do need to walk to the market. Maybe after a nap.

There are a couple of men doing yard work.  Since I slept wrong, or something, on my left shoulder I volunteered to stay home while they work.  Keith has gone to the gym and to do errands.

When my good shoulder is bad I'm kind of screwed-lol

Hi all!  I wanted to let you know the the tear down went smooth--it barely took them an hour to do it because there were so few cabinets.  They decided to get a start on the install instead of waiting until tomorrow.

Jackie Calloway from 28 news was here as well.  It was very nice to see her again. She remembered me and my story.  She is soooo happy for me.  The story will run on Thursday she said.  I don't know how to record it so it can be on a DVD.  Is there anything I can do?

I have lots of photos to share when things calm down.

Oh, how could I forget, there was a plumbing company here that is going to give me a whole new septic tank system!  Can you BELIEVE it?!  I guess good things DO happen to those who wait.

I made a technology purchase recently and guess what, it actually works. It does what it's supposed to do and it's simple to set up and I may actually subscribe to Netflix because of it.

I bought this little techno wonder

TV to PC Converter

Attach it to your laptop (I'm talking PC here, I don't know if it works with Apple) and then attach it to the television and bingo, your screen is now on your television screen.

We watched a couple of programs on Acorn TV last night without problem. We also watched an old YouTube video of an interview with

Joan Crawford

It's from 1966 done by the BBC (it's in 3 parts, about 14 minuest each). It's much more fun to watch it full screen on the television than on the computer screen.

I'm thinking I may sign up for a free trial of Netflix Streaming to see what kind of movies they have. If I like it we may take the plunge and not use the library as much for DVDs.

Speaking of Netflix Streaming, does anyone know if Stepping Out, the Liza Minnelli movie from 1991 is on Netflix Streaming. We've been trying to see that (since Anthony has been taking tap, it's become a bit of holy grail for him). I've found people who sell VHS to DVR transfers and VHS copies on Ebay and Amazon but no DVD copies. If' it's on a streaming network we could actually watch it.

We have watched programs on the laptop in the past but neither of us like it. It's uncomfortable and the screen is hard to see (it's a 15 inch laptop). If it's OK for one of us, the other has a slight problem. This device takes care of the problem It's on our television screen and all is well. It's an old television (from 2000) so it's not an HD picture but we don't care. It's a very good picture (depending on what's being streamed from the computer) and the sound is good. That's all I want. I'm not a cinephile so color saturation, etc. means nothing to me. I just want to see the movie. This looks like it can do the job.

We will finish Mildred Pierce tonight and then tomorrow we will watch an old VHS of Sunny (1930) with Marilyn Miller.

Ben, do you have to put your computer right next to the TV screen?

Good morning, all.

Up early this morning, to take the car in for its 140,000 mile checkup, oil change, etc.  Let's all give some vibes they don't find a way to turn it into an $1800 job this time, shall we?  Very much appreciated.

Oy!  Coffee!

Good morning, all!

I was asleep by 9pm last night and I heard not a peep from the neighbor above me. I slept quite well until 7:30 this morning, when his (and hers?) stomping and wandering about woke me. Now that I'm on my second cup of coffee, I plan to putter around the apartment, perhaps do laundry, and visit the NYPL at noon. I want to learn when the show title GOWNS BY ROBERTA was changed to ROBERTA.

DR Chas Smith, I liked the film of JURASSiC PARK,especially the moment when the tyrannosaurus tears apart the men's room and devours the person hiding there. I read the novel just before it was published, since my Drama Book Shop employers brought it back for me from the ABA convention, and they knew my fascination with dinosaurs. The children in the novel were so whiny and obnoxious I prayed the dinosaurs would eat them; their behavior - and characterizations - were changed for the film.

TOD
DVD:  Kinky Boots, several Netflix items
CD:  Dearest Enemy, Roberta (several), Guy Haines, Bach cantatas
VCR:  short art films on adult themes

elmore, will you be going to see the musical version of KINKY BOOTS?

Thank you, DR TCB.

The verdict:  $190 for the oil change, new wiper blades, and swapping the snow tires for the regular ones.

That part is okay.  Part II of the verdict will be comin' down the pike shortly, because it's time to replace the regular tires which have truly gone the extra mile.  I got this set in November 2007, and what with being a driver who's easy on cars and tires, and swapping for snow tires during the winter months, they've lasted 5-1/2 years which is pretty damned stupendous.  So, I need to decide how much to spend on exactly what type, and get new ones before I start driving hither and yon all summer.

Part III, I have no idea what the damages will be, but it's also about time to change a bunch of vacuum hoses (this turbo engine apparently has "a bunch"), and they're making up the parts list and working up the estimate.  Oy!

But all is well, and my HELLO, DOLLY! was just delivered.  I'll be watching it this evening when it's quiet and distraction-free.

I've heard of this happening before. That is why you are supposed to have someone at the house while you are at the funeral. It is sad though. Imagine just coming back from a funeral and then finding your house ransacked. Some people are truly horrible.

I once saw a production of "Stepping Out" at the Berkshire Theater Festival in Stockbridge. Marge Champion directed. Just a wonderful piece of uplift in the theater. The movie lost a lot of the magic, but I'd still like to see it again, too, for the same reasons you mention, Ben.

DVD:
Not sure what I might watch or if I will have time to watch anything on DVD this weekend (since my DVR seems to be full of stuff), but I did get a nice package of Punjabi films yesterday, so might find some time to view at least one...or at least watch a couple of song picturizations.

Here is the trailer to one of the flims, KABADDI, ONCE AGAIN..a film that will appeal to sports fans and/or fans of muscle bound heroes who spend most of a movie shirtless: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tjx1MrRbJbA
