Sorry to have been e and t. Work has been hellish with a capital "ugh" lately.

My suggestions for titles:

The Boy from Paws: the life story of a boy raised by wolves

Tent: the camping hijincks of whiny, young new yorkers

The Last Five Pears: fruit of the month gone terribly, terribly wrong - told backwards from December-January of course.

A New Drain: if we can do renovation, we can do plumbing!

A very nostalgic evening for me tonight. I was watching some old show tapes of mine (FOREVER PLAID, to be exact) when the phone rang and it was my ex-lover whom I've been out of touch with for four years. We parted amicably in 1989, but he's still kind of a mother hen about me, and when he last called four years ago, we had a tiff on the phone. He avoided those caustic topics tonight, and we had a lovely conversation. Nice to know he's healthy and happy. As am I.

Well, yes! I finished work at 9, then we had some errands to run, and cheese and a cocktail when we finally got home. Then I got dinner cooking, and it was on the table at about 11:30.

I've always been a night-owl. How else could I stay up until BK puts up the new notes each day?

THE SAGA OF THE KITCHEN STORE, the next chapter.

My vengeful co-worker has indeed been busy. She has gone behind our manager's back, and reported nasty things to the assistant regional director. Now, I don't mind these little catty communiques when they're just about me. That vcw has seen fit to go behind our managers back, however, has me very pissed off.

For the moment, however, it seems that karma is kicking in. VCW was at the store during the early hours, and had to leave to see her doctor after feeling severe pains in her side. Exactly how long it will be before she returns to work remains to be seen.

Until then, I intend to keep my nose very clean. My hunch is that the real battle will be between the vcw and our boss. And I think I know who I'd rather side with. In fact, that's a no-brainer.

I have returned from the Hollywood Bowl. Miss Renee Fleming was in splendid voice and truly demonstrated her versatility and range. It was a lovely concert.

I'm off to bed. I must get to work early in the morning. My Antiques Roadshow tickets are safely tucked away and will NOT get lost!

If we're going to have a Northwest HHW Get-Together, we should start making plans now!

I'm assuming that the simplest thing will just be for us to meet for dinner somewhere in the evening. Anyway, think about it and let's discuss!

The movie was good. (Apparently there's already a really good review in TV Guide.) There was lots of laughing and crying and the audience seemed to enjoy it. (Mind you, this wasn't a random sampling of the population). My most enjoyable conversation of the evening was with Marlee Matlin who seems to be a genuinely nice woman. I'm really tired so this isn't the most scintillating description of the evening. More tomorrow.
