Good evening, all.

--Which I am posting from HOME, THANK GAWD.  What a day.  Drove through FOG in every mountainous part of Maryland and Pennsylvania I had to pass through.  Unbelievable.

I am glad that you arrived home safely  Chas!

I am also very happy to report that a book was waiting for me!  It looks great, and I will probably get to read it tomorrow.  In fact, I can't think of a better way to have a restful day after my crazy little trip.  Thanks to BK for the book, the goodies, and the perfect inscription!

BTW, I shan't read anyone's review till I've read the book because I don't want anything to color my own reactions.  I also like to mention things that mean something special to me in my own review, so those thoughts must remain pure (pure boys!) till that's completed, too.

As much as I love discussing books I hate to review them, so I never ever do.  I feel bad about this.

I don't like giving them stars at Goodreads either, mostly because I can't do half stars.  Most books I give 3 out of 5 stars because I don't want to give the book 4 stars so I drop down to the lower number even if I think it deserves 3 1/2-3 3/4 stars.  To me that is a big difference from a straight 3 star book.  I'm not bothered as much by the differences between 2 & 1 stars or 3 & 4 if I can't do half stars.

Does anyone else have trouble rating books or movies or am I unique?

You can still rate a book 3 1/2 stars on goodreads. Just include it in the text. Many many people do this (including myself). I need half stars, so I use them a lot.

I think we rate books differently. To me 3 stars is okay. 4 stars is I like it. 4.5 I like it a lot. And 5 stars is rare it means I absolutely love it/perfection. I think I have given 5 stars to maybe 5 books this year so far (out of 46 or so). I don't give 5 stars easily.

DR ELMORE - I am directing Patrick Hamilton's ANGEL STREET aka GASLIGHT.....  It runs for two weekends in mid July.  And by the time it opens, I hope to be cast in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE opening in August.  We shall see.

Yes! I do remember nw, DR JRand62! Around 1971 or so, I saw a gorgeous production of ANGEL STREET, directed by Tony Perkins, at Cincinnati's Playhouse In The Park. The curtain where the Inspector leaves his hat and only just returns for it at the last minute had the entire audience on the verge of a collective breakdown. It's such a good melodrama.

Well, I guess I can cancel my tickets to opening night.  Thanks, elmore!

I think Bruce should write the musical version of POCKETFUL OF MIRACLES.

That is in addition to the states that were affected today.

Singer / songwriter Alan O'Day has died.  He wrote Angie Baby for Helen Reddy and Rock 'N Roll Heaven for The Righteous Brothers.

There are certainly a lot of fictional death notices on the Internet.  Tonight I found Madonna died in a car crash and Richard Chamberlain died.  Neither of these stories is true.
