TOD:

Cooper is one of my favourtie actors of all time, my fav films of his:

LIVES OF A BENGAL LANCER
DESIRE
MR. DEEDS GOES TO TOWN
BEAU GESTE
MEET JOHN DOE
BALL OF FIRE
THE FOUNTAINHEAD
FRIENDLY PERSUASION

Fav Patricia Neal Films:

FACE IN THE CROWD
FOUNTAINHEAD
SUBJECT WAS ROSES

I don't think Bogart was ever set for Cooper's role in FOUNTAINHEAD, but it's who Vidor wanted.  I directly asked this question of Vidor once at a Q & A after a screening of DUEL IN THE SUN.  He said he felt Bogart better represented the iconoclastic Howard Roark.  I disagree and think he's wrong...I think Cooper perfectly represented Roark's uncompromising integrity and his quiet resolution to go his own way and take whatever work he could until he could achieve his ideals on his own terms rather than diminish them.

The Fed Ex has arrived, and I'vew been through all the current ROBERTA questions. More to follow from Rob Berman.

I will make no corrections until I hear from him.

I sent Claire Moore (original Ellen in the helicopter show) an email in April telling her about our show and asking if she had any thoughts about the Ellen character.  I wasn't sure if the email would get to her as I found the address on some website that I had never heard of.  Anyway, she got it and wrote back this morning.  The inner fan boy in me is excited beyond words as I've loved her music since the day I got serious about musical theatre.  Of course, I've created a Claire Moore playlist to use as I pack my life away today.  Such a great day already!

TOD:

"Friendly Persuasion" and "Ball of Fire' certainly are among my favorite Cooper films, along with "Meet John Doe"

Patricia Neal's films that are favorites include "The Subject Was Roses", "Hud" and "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

I have a great fondness for "The Fountainhead", naturally.  Neal has rarely been so fiery and lusty.

I think one can discern the topic by visiting the board, but in this case this person has never visited the board.

I didn't get to sleep until two, I woke up at four, mind ablaze with thoughts, didn't fall asleep until six-thirty and am now up.  So, somewhere in there I think I got five hours of sleep.  And now - I'm up.

Matthew, that is so cool!!  I don't suppose you asked her about the changing of "It's Her or Me" to "Now That I've Seen Her."  I always wondered about how and why it happened, and how she felt about having to redo it.  I have the original CD release with "It's Her or Me." :)

CRAP!!  I had a bait-and-switch situation with Amazon.co.uk. :P I had ordered THIS 14-disc boxed set of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: The Complete Radio Series," BUT what they sent was THIS 13-disc version.  The boxed set is in a spiffy cool box and has an extra disc with an interview with Douglas Adams...AND cost me GBP 40.92 ($66.08 with shipping).  Right now, there isn't a seller that can ship the 13-disc version to the US, but the cheapest available is only 17.99GBP...that's only about $27.50...which is almost half of what I was charged for it.  I'd settle for a refund, but I'll wait to hear back from the seller.  I just sent a not-very-polite e-mail...through Amazon.co.uk (of course).

In an amazing coincidence, I just this very morning placed the "Ghost Story" set in my cart!

I remember hearing they'd released it, but never followed up on it and had totally forgotten about it.  Shame on me.

May I say I enjoyed a delightful read this morning and afternoon?

And that there's a delightful new review up on Amazon?

Well, it seems I've actually said both of those very things.

You'd best get that air-conditioning going, DR Jrand62.

I believe Cincinnati was to be near 90 these next couple of days.  We're finally enjoying some high 70s here, and there's a LOT of moisture outside that, with the windows open, is also inside.  But I don't mind.  For a while.  It's too early to retreat into the A/C in these here parts.  I'll bring a couple of the large fans up from the basement later.  This is actually my favorite kind of warm weather -- the kind you can make comfortable with a few judiciously placed fans.  In fact, this was perfect reading weather this morning.  Absolutely perfect.
