There was a local radio personality, Gerri Hart, who had a daily talk show and was very supportive of (and active in) our community theatre.  Her theme song was "Bluesette," played by studio pianists Charlie Reeder and Bill Eisele.  Here she is with our very own DR Elmore on July 4, 1976:

Southern Pimiento Cheese
 
Original recipe makes 3 cups

2 cups shredded extra-sharp Cheddar cheese
8 ounces cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper (optional)
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1 jalapeno pepper, seeded and minced (optional)
1 (4 ounce) jar diced pimiento, drained
salt and black pepper to taste

Directions

1. Place the Cheddar cheese, cream cheese, mayonnaise, garlic powder, cayenne pepper, onion powder, minced jalapeno, and pimiento into the large bowl of a mixer. Beat at medium speed, with paddle if possible, until thoroughly combined. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.

Apropos the "Rolling Stone" magazine cover discussed by DRs yesterday:

The cover, promoting a story about how Tsarnaev fell into radical Islam, flatly calls him a “monster.” But the mayor of Boston and some bombing victims said it was insensitive, and three national drugstore chains (Walgreens, CVS, and Rite-Aid) announced that they would refuse to carry the issue.

Cucumber, onion juice and cream cheese all mashed together into a spread. Nope, not vegan. Just Louisvillian.

Okay, here's a little something re the notes:

Yrs Truly being served a crepe at THE MAGIC PAN, Beverly Hills, snapshot dated July 1974.  My friend worked there, so that's the one I was in most often, as those were also the years when I was both living and working right there.



I'd like to find a menu to recall all my favorite crepes.  I remember a couple of them, but not in detail.  And the spinach salad.

I introduced a lot of people to The Magic Pan, including my folks in Cincinnati.  We were all pretty loyal customers, and it was a dark day when the chain eventually imploded due to way-too-fast expansion.
