The sun is bright red so I looked at it. Now I keep seeing red spots.  I tried taking a photo but it looks white.

Well, after all of these years, and with a bit more delay over the past week or two than I'd wanted, I have finally watched the lovely LOVE IS A MANY-SPLENDORED THING.

I guess at six years of age or whatever that I wouldn't have been taken to this one, but it's kind of amazing to think I never came into contact with it in later years.  I almost have to believe that the song was so iconic throughout those years that it almost seemed like I'd seen a movie of the same name without even knowing what said movie was even about.  That sounds totally absurd, but there it is.  Regardless, what a wonderful discovery now, and I already look forward to more viewings.

DR John G, did you see the news about the film versions of THE GOOD COMPANIONS getting DVD releases?
I did. Thank you. Unfortunately, amazon only has the oldest film version available. I have not done any homework to see where I can find the other two versions.

More drugs prescribed today as the ears have begun blocking up. Ugh.

Rehearsal was too rough for my taste - we have three newcomers this month and not a one of them was prepared even though they're told upfront that I like them to at least pretty much be off book for our first rehearsal so I can see what they're doing.  The two people who've done this before were fully prepared and therefore it was very easy for me to hear the arrangements and make adjustments.  The newcomers have had their material for three weeks and I don't think a one of them did anything with it until a few days ago - this just baffles me.  One was hoarse and was completely on book - hopefully she'll have her voice back by Thursday and will know her stuff perfectly.  One needs to learn two of his numbers - he knows the third because it's from a show he just did.  But he has the wordiest song of the show, a real tongue twister and a long one at that.  He actually asked if we could find a simpler song and I said no.  The other is really talented and I love her voice, but she too hadn't really nailed down anything, and one of the songs really needs precision and that one wasn't prepared at all.  The idea is that we don't have to actually teach anything in the first rehearsal, but we did a lot of teaching today.

I then did a little interview with a Variety staffer about our little soundtrack label word.  I'm afraid I was brutally honest :)

Lord, lord, lord (that is three lords - now all we need is a taylor), we really have been in the dog days of July this past week.  I don't really get it, but I know who the culprits are and I shall bitch slap them from here to eternity and hell and back.

That sounds intriguing.  Hopefully, a link can be posted.

My big scene as Maxwell, one of the Hollywood producers, is in those first 12 pages.  I do have a couple of other producer scenes.

The producers, Maxwell and Matthews (who is played by a fairly young, VERY skinny and VERY tall guy) are always together and are on vacation.  We're also British...that's right, British Hollywood producers...just for fun. :D

My other character is Kershaw, the no-nonsense plain-clothes police officer investigating the murder with his fairly young, VERY skinny and VERY tall partner, Stycks.  Kershaw and Stycks are not British, so I can do a "normal" voice for him.

I'm planning on going to work early tomorrow because a couple of coworkers and I decided a few weeks ago to go to a restaurant that opened several years ago as a Quiznos.

Then early last year, it got new owners and they turned it into a Pepperjack Cheesesteak and Burgers, then early this year it was sold again and it became Daybreak Deli (but it's not a real deli).

It pretty much has the same menu as what Pepperjack had, but the burgers (I never liked cheesesteak sandwiches) are really good.  Anyway, that's why we're going....

Linda in the business office went there when Pepperjack first opened and didn't really like it.  I thought that it was okay and kept going.

Now that it's Daybreak Deli, they've really improved and I said that we should go so that she could try it again.

Jayne (also in the business office) said that she would go to, but she might back out...which is not unusual for Jayne. ;) But today, she wasn't feeling too well.  We'll see what happens tomorrow.
