Lets all pray for the victims of Today's Washington Tragedy and that it be resolved soon!

Most of the Richard Burton movies mentioned are the ones I enjoy the most....so I will just add second votes for:

Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
The Spy Who Came In From the Cold (an excellent book as well as DR CHAS SMITH said)
Where Eagles Dare

And I will add:
Cleopatra
The Rains of Ranchipur
The V.I.P.S.

I like all of the Sean Connery James Bond movies...no particular favorite.
The Manchurian Candidate
North by Northwest

TOD:  The Sequel

I forgot to answer about spy films, except to say I love Cold War stuff.

Most anything based on John le Carre, Ian Fleming, Robert Ludlum.  I'm easy.  Hitchcock, certainly.

Too many spy films to remember.

I am back from physical therapy, and I ache all over, but my progress in a week is quite amazing: last Monday, I coulld not lie flat on my stomach because every nerve ganglia between my toes and my middle back did not want to stretch that far and protested loudly and painfully. I now can lie flat on my stomach with some discomfort to my left leg, but not enough to stop the massage or treatments. I'm quite pleased, even though I still walk like Lurch and  every time I put my left foot on the floor I worry that I will fall down.

I'm going to delay laundry until tomorrow, but I do need at some point t make a trip to the corner bodega and ATM.

Monday afternoon greetings!  Richard and I were at the vampire's blood lab before 9am for both of us to have tests.  We then went to breakfast, to the Verizon store to ask a question about our recent bill, and to the grocery, where we shopped, Richard had some prescriptions filled, and I did some banking.  It's very unusual for us to be out and about so early, especially on a Monday morning, and we ran into several of my AAUW friends who were very surprised to see us.  Home now for the rest of the day.  I'm actually going to cook dinner tonight and clean off my desk.  It's a mess!

DR Elmore, Verizon is out in the Towne Mall area, kind of behind Staples and in front of Meijer.

BK:  Is your other player the Oppo 93?  Which region "mod" do you have?  Mine's the one that plugs in either on the back or inside, and I have it on the back.  You do the code-and-restart thing to change BD regions, and it's always all-region for DVDs.

Yes, the Oppo  93 - I can't remember the instructions that came to do the all-region thing - it's on a paper I have in the den, but I've never changed it after I set it.  That player always works fine - but the cheap five year old Samsung is done.

I can also recommend cheap Panasonics.  Mine was wonderful but I passed it on to someone when I got the Oppo.

So, just in case we have the same add-on:

Remove disc, close drawer, wait for "No Disc" message on screen.
On remote, press "DIMMER" three times, then press "MUTE" once, then press "1" or "2" (for Region A or B).
Don't do anything else.  Just turn player OFF.

Turn it back on, and Bob should be your uncle.  If he isn't your uncle, then it's probably a different mod, but let's hope...

DR ChasSmith -

Great, but I think you're missing a few steps.

At some point, you're suppose to turn around three times and touch your right finger to your nose.
And then at the end, aren't you supposed to hop on one foot and sing the 3rd verse of "Yes, We Have No Bananas"?

Thanks everyone for your nice comments about my photo yesterday. I honestly wasn't fishing for comments - just thought it would be fun to share. Because that's what we Hainsies and Kimlets do here at HHW.

About TWO computers ago, I read a blog titled - I think - "Also in the Cast...".  It had really strange theater photos that had appeared in local newspapers.....kind of random weirdness.

Of course, now it is no where to be found...perhaps it has gone the way of the dinosaur ... but it was very funny and very interesting to see how some directors felt that their actors should be posed....

In honor of the notes....since we haven't heard it for awhile:

Ha!  That's beautiful!

The two of us playing that Rodgers & Hammerstein revue had a "transpose" button bite us at least one time each.  (I have to say we recovered WAY faster than that poor organist did.)

I have returned to the land of the living

How is the show going?

Funny you should ask.

When I started doing shows, the week before the opening was widely known as HELL week.  As time went on, it kinda slowly morphed into TECH week, which is how I refer to it now.  However, the last week was indeed a HELL week.  I won't go into detail, but the totally control of the sound of the orchestra is out of my hands and in the hands of the sound designer.  It's very frustrating.  Once we thought we had a great mix happening, it would change.  I'm not a sound designer, but I don't know how to work a sound board and if I had to, I could run a show.  But COME ON, find a level and stay there.  I won't go on, because I'm trying to be positive that when we're back on Thursday, we won't be back to square 1.

Anyhow, it's a great show with some really great moments.  And the band rocks, when you hear them :)
