As Kate wrote, the I Love Lucy Show was a lot of fun!    They had a contestant from the audience come up on stage and answer questions about the show (What was Lucy's maiden name, What state was Ethel from, What was the name of the book Lucy was reading in the episode "Lucy thinks Ricky is trying to kill her?").  One of the actresses started out as a member of the audience (dressed in 1950's garb) and played several characters, all hilariously.

I hobbled over to the corner bodega and put together a delivery, which will arrive shortly.  My left foot does not want to negotiate stairs at all, which is both irritating and extremely painful. Pepperidge Farm is offering pumpkin cheesecake cookies at the moment, and I hope that will cure my pumpkin cookie/muffin craving for the nonce.

Please let me know if those are any good.  I have already tried the Yoplait Pumpkin Yogurt.  Nasty!

When I was in high school, there was this great teacher that everyone loved.  At the time she seemed like she was a hundred years old.  Today, I saw her obituary in the paper.  She just died.  At age 104.

What is it with all the poorly flavored faux pumpkin stuff this fall?

Just looked at the playbill.  The name of the actress is Denise Moses.  She was really funny!

T.O.D.

That is a tough one.  I guess my top five would be:

SLEUTH
THE MAN WHO CAME TO DINNER
THE LION IN WINTER
WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF
THE DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS

I have done the first three and always hoped I could do the other two  Long past those roles now.  Among other problems.  I think my favorite of the five is DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS.  Maybe because I never got to do the show.  It is just such a beautiful touch of Americana.  It is DEATH OF A SALESMAN without being quite such a downer.  And the movie is so perfectly cast.  Robert Preston, Dorothy McGuire, Angela Lansbury, Eve Arden, and Shirley Knight, before she was a Hopkins.

Topic of the Day:

Angels In America (both parts)
Arcadia
Bent
Noises Off
The Rainmaker
Torch Song Trilogy
A Streetcar Named Desire
You Can't Take It with You

I asked my friend Sarah (she's the stage manager for "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe") who's sitting right next to me and she said that her favorite play ever is "The Death of a Salesman."  I've never seen it, so it can't be on my list.

I hope I never have to sit thru another production of SALESMAN.  I have been to funerals that had more humor than that show.  I have seen some wonderful productions.  I think Lee J. Cobb was my favorite.  If I have to see Miller, I prefer THE CRUCIBLE or ALL MY SONS.

A little before 5:00AM I was about to post and mention I had been wide awake all night when my Nook made a loud warning beep to tell me the battery was about to run out.  I of course shut it off before it beeped again.  I have no idea how the sound volume got turned up when I left it all the way down.  I'm not sure if Keith knows why he heard me get up.

I had a crazy time last night, as well.  I think I rolled over and turned on the light again four different times.  Very weird.

However, in order to get the cable into that room, I had to empty the closet in my office ....the closet where I've thrown all the misc stuff I didn't know what to do with for the past 7 years.  YIKES!   So, I'm taking advantage of it.  I went to Home Depot and bought some Martha Stewart cubby hole shelving units and am putting them in the closet.  I'll have them three wide and 5 tall, so roughly three feet by five feet.  I've got the bottom unit put together, installed and nearly filled already.  I wasn't sure I needed the others, but I know I do.  It's amazing what  little organization can do.  I'm finding lots of my photography stuff, I bought a ton of frames back when I was into it.  I found tons of photos that I thought I had lost along the way.   Think I may take a break from working and look through some of them while I watch tv

After all this work vibes you are happy with directv.

I love Direct TV.

I've made a friend on the FB Forgotten Musicals page, a Boston College student named Jackson, and I've suggested he should check out HHW. He likes old TV, old musicals, and old movies, and I think he would be a great addition

Does he like old actors?

Hi from Chicago!!   I'm visiting my pal Angela for the weekend.  It's been fun seeing the sights.  Tonight I'm on my own as Angela is in a production of "The Mikado" (which I saw last night) so I'm seeing the national tour of "Once".  Today, we went to the The Art Institute and of course, I saw the original Seurat's great painting, which was really great. Tomorrow I'm seeing a play called "To Master the Art" about Julia Child.  I believe it's locally written and has been playing for a while, I'm excited to see that.

Of course, there has been pizza consumed and things like that.  I'll check in again soon.

Glad you are enjoying yourself, Matthew.

Oh Cool!! I found it on the internet.   The painter is Harry Hart referred to in this article.  This is the same story I was told

http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2011/11/al-capone-had-a-brother-who-was-a-prohibition-enforcement-officer/

That story would make a great movie.

Yes, we will be seeing Larry this afternoon. I'll be his produce man.

Meanwhile, here's a picture of him and Kevin (who is on his way to Buffalo, I believe, to see sister Kate and the Lucy Show)

Couldn't someone have warned me to put on sunglasses before looking at that photo?

(In my best Jack Benny voice):  "Well!"

Oh you are adorable, Kevin!

I truly wish that NYC was not such a wheelchair unfriendly city.  I would love to see the memorial at Ground Zero.  And, of course, there are some wonderful people there who I would love to visit.

Had a productive meeting at the theater and we're all on the same page about everything now.  The real challenge of this show for me is going to be getting to the theater and getting home without exploding thanks to the LA horror show known as traffic.
