I am thinking that Tom Cruise has no dea of what it is like not to be a pampered movie star. Or he has simply lost his mind.

It's Friday.

Tomorrow is haircut day with Miss Erin.

Monday is Veterans Day holiday.

I love November.  In couple of weeks, I'll have most of a week off.

And then it's the countdown to my December vacay which starts at COB on Dec. 6.

I daresay he hasn't had a rational thought since 1982.

Tom Cruise suffers from being an interminable asshole; I find him objectionable on every level of humanity.

And I am home from a lovely 2-hour luncheon with the wonderful, savvy PennyO, who leaves for LA tomorrow. One of the theaters she works with in LA has sponsored a playwright whose play SMALL ENGINE REPAIR is at the Lortell. She is such a positive lady that the visit has cheered me up enormously.

Opening night tonight.  Sitting backstage, as I've been doing the past few nights (musicians are behind a scrim) in an attempt to figure out when each scene change, all of which are just horrible, is done.  (No one gets it.  No one.  Which probably makes no sense.  Long story.  Don't ask.  etc.)  But tomorrow night has my name on it so I must make as good a contribution as I can to the proceedings, which means knowing when to play and when to shut up.  And then my work will be done.

I don't know, I have heard that DNR has helped solve many, many criminal cases.

Reviews for the Book Thief movie are only average. Seems the makers thought moviegoers couldn't take the darkness of the book.

Bummer and odd since the book was sold as YA in the States.

A friend of mine wrote a children's book about dinosaurs called "We're Back." The main character was a tyranosaurs rex with big teeth and frightening breath. It was all very funny. But when Spielberg made the animated movie, he was toothless and less frightening than Puff the Magic Dragon. Children stayed away in droves.

I'm sorry for your friend.

My mother does alterations for the local JEANS/LEVI shop,

Levi shops do alterations‽

Wards in Mooresville does.  Especially if you can't find the leg length in the waist size you need - or vice versa.  They also sell Dockers and other slacks and sports coats.....

http://wards-apparel.com/

I don't care about Dockers, etc but there have been many a time I can't find the shorter pant length in my jeans.

DNR is also Department of Natural Resources here in Indiana.

So DR JANE you would buy your jeans that fit you and have your length altered....so to speak.  I am surprised that your Levis shop does not do that for you.

I feel sorry for the employees who will be losing their jobs, but I have no sympathy whatsoever for Blockbuster.

 :P

They drove all the Mama/Poppa video stores out of business, and now they are going down the tubes.

Yes, we have Red Box and Net Flix, there are no video rental stores any more.

 :'(

But that's what always happens with everything - Crown Books comes along, does what they did, causes the closure of many wonderful bookshops, and then dies.  Circuit City, Rogersound Labs, all of those kinds of businesses - they drive the mom-and-pops into the toilet, but they always, always go out of business and die.

Found a great site last night about barbecue and the blues. Of course, barbecue in these songs is some sort of euphemism for sex. But what great titles: "I Crave My Pig Meat," "Meat Man Pete (Pete, the Dealer in Meat)" and "Who Did You Give My Barbecue To?"

http://www.oldhatrecords.com/cd1008.html

Not quite Das Barbecu, but that'll be listened to later.

I am very happy to find that the Punjabi film JATT BOYS PUTT JATTAN DE has released on DVD this week. The actor whom I had lunch with the other week is the star (along with singer Sippy Gill).

Now, to obtain a copy of it!

Maybe the star can tell you where to find a copy.

Ah yes, residents of my apartment building were quite up in arms when someone began using the leaf blower at 6:45 am the other day. It was universally decided that that was waaaaay too early.

Sad.  We stopped going to Blockbuster years and years ago.  Locally they went out of business awhile ago and the small store that was here first is still here.  The small store downsized a few years ago to a fraction of the previous size.

I don't blame him for suing the reporter for making the statement he abandoned his daughter, however, this ridiculous statement really has nothing to do regarding the truth of the reporter's claim.
I'm sure proof of phone calls to his daughter and that he was working on location would be enough.
