There are no small Judis, only small parts.

DR Elmore:  Sorry for brain fart, but was this Encores! work for LITTLE ME?  What is the nature of it (if you're permitted to share)?

I have not said what I'm doing on LITTLE ME, DR ChasSmith. The Tams-Witmark rental materials have cut the 4th trumpet from the show. Working from the orchestra parts and the P/C, I'm reconstructing it. Forensic science in the musical theatre, and I'm pretty good at it.

OMG, forensic science for sure.

How does stuff like that go astray?  And it's just that one part?  Are such parts sometimes considered overkill for most rental situations, so they just omit them without even hanging on to original material?  And no full score exists?  (Duh.)

Fascinating stuff.  And yes, you must be!   :)

A dear friend once said that someone had once suggested that Judi do a Gershwin revue called 'S WONDERFUL, 'S MARVELOUS, 'S DENCH

I suspect the 4th was cut out for the tour and, possibly, London production. God alone knows where Ralph Burns' full scores may be. There are much bigger horror stories than the LITTLE ME materials: WHERE'S CHARLEY? and A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM have rental materials even more questionable.

I remember in the documentary on the "crossover" West Side Story how frustrated Leonard Bernstein was with the quality (accuracy) of the orchestral parts they were working with.

I'm up, I'm up, had a nice little chat with dear reader Druxy, who is mere moments away at the Sportsman's Lodge, the site of my brother's Bar Mitzvah in 1957.

A short Christmas video. You may have seen it before, but it is still cute.  (DR FJL, it involves a dog, so you may want to avoid.)

Good morning, all.

Hopefully it's a day in which some needed work gets done. I've already made my first batch of Christmas baked goods. I hope to get in a second this afternoon some time.

Any barbecue in those?

Only a smidge.

Larry Moore, MTSI (Musical Theater Score Investigations), instead of CSI.

Has a nice ring to it.

I was never in the Sportsman's Lodge, but always loved seeing it as I drove by.

Well, I made it to work in time for the morning break with goodies and gift exchange.  I gave a not-very-expensive (but nice) glass Hershey's candy bar-shaped covered candy dish with some Hershey's Milk Chocolate Drops.

I received a plastic candy cane filled with Hershey's mint Kisses (love it!) and a box of Hickory Farms "Hickory Holiday Favorites."  I'll give the summer sausage to my niece to give to her grandmother (who loves this kind of thing).  My dad would probably like the sweet hot mustard and I'll keep the crackers and Three Cheese & Onion cheese.

At 1:00-ish, we have our actual holiday lunch.  I brought some sliced Tiger bread (never heard of it, but it looks real good) and organic butter.  It'll be a swell affair!

Oh, did I forget to log out when I left for the dentist?  Anyway, good 6-month check-up except for the tooth I cracked that needs a crown.  I knew when it happened and was not surprised at this news.  I go back on January 2 - happy New Year to me...

TOD:

I have liked Judi Dench in every movie I have seen her in, but I don't really have a favorite. Of course there are a lot of her films I have not yet seen.

As for favorite films of 2013...GO GOA GONE is the best of what I saw this year. It was doggone funny.

Thank God! Some money has come in. I'm still waiting on the 2013 royalties check from my publisher, but it's nice to have something in the bank besides pennies.
