I thought the one for THE WINTER'S TALE looked really good. Now I want to read the Helprin novel.

I read "Winter's Tale" when it first came out in paperback.  If well done the movie should be very pretty to watch.

I started to read this when I was in high school.  It went over my head.  I just didn't get it.  Probably if I read it now it would be great, but then, I couldn't get through it.

Is there anything one can do if you had a package delivered ("Left on door step"), but you never received it?  Unfortunately, I bought it with a debit card instead of a credit card.  UPS says they dropped it off at my door step at 10:38 on Wednesday.  I would have been in the bathroom getting ready for the Old Actors lunch.  When I left an hour later there was nothing at my door.  Delivery robbery has been a serious problem this year in Seattle and Tacoma.

I didn't think that UPS was allowed to simply leave a package at the door. Especially if you were home. I would definitely call UPS to complain. I mean if you didn't get it.

Is it possible that a neighbor thought that you were out and took it in for you?

UPS leaves packages all the time.

It was UPS that left Bryan's package near the trash, and Kate was home all day.

I'm lucky that I can have things delivered to my work.  I've never had anything lost...only a couple of things from Amazon.fr (France) were returned.  BK had the same experience.  Fortunately, the Blu-rays of "Cherbourg" and "Rochefort" arrived.

Went out to a fundraiser to benefit the husband of the woman who died recently that I told you about, Barbara Wolfe. Great event. Lots of local musicians playing and beer/burgers both donated, so they were included in your $20 admission, all of which will go to Steve. Steve was well enough to attend (he's been waiting for a year for a kidney transplant). I think they raised about $3,000.

Very nice!

Yesterday, I worked concessions for "The Nutcracker" and then went to my friend Pug's house for her annual Yule Fest.  It was the first time that I had gone.  I've otherwise been to many of Pug's regular parties, so it really wasn't much different.  A good time was had by all...lots of food, chatting and more food and more chatting.

The story is a bit strange.  Maybe you just didn't like it.

I've been home and I'm just watching TV.  Last night, I happened to be watching TCM when Victor Herbert's "Sweethearts" started, so I recorded it.  I just burned a DVD of it, but I happened to be on the hi-def channel.  When I record a hi-def program onto a standard DVD, the 4:3 image is window-boxed...it has a black frame around all four sides.  But I can zoom in so it's not horrible, but if I had recorded the regular def channel, it would fill the screen normally.  This isn't my TV, but it's what it looks like:

I really dislike UPS for this behavior. I think I mentioned coming home to find the new TV sitting next to the door in a huge box with a giant picture of the TV on the outside. If they had written "Steal me" on the side, it would have been about the same.

It's odd because if you want them to leave a package then they make a huge deal about needing to leave permission attached to the door. Yet you guys who clearly don't want your stuff left have it left.

I'm surprised that they would ship a tv without "signature required".

Plus I would have phoned UPS for that and gotten that driver disciplined. I mean who would leave a tv out on the street?

DR Laura the girls look lovely in their costumes and I can see why the little lamb stole the show, so darn cute.

They all look so cute!

Well, I surprised myself and got more written today than I had thought I would. There's still plenty left to write in this, but each step makes it closer to reality.

You'd think it was the holiday season or something, but this is most unseemly and not in the holiday spirit, so let's get off our complacent butt cheeks and get some postin' goin' on.

Just returned from performing in a "Lessons & Carols" service, singing and playing bells. After that was a lovely soiree at one of the choir member's homes. I am stuffed to the gills. The lovely dusting of snow made everything look pretty without affecting driving too much.

It's official: I'm coming down with something. Ugh.

Perhaps some alcohol would help.

Wish I had some egg nog.

I bought some egg nog today, just to sip in the evening  I got the kind with alcohol already in it.  The checker said "Can I assume you're over 40?"  Made me laugh

Today I finished Christmas shopping, hung 4 more of the new shades and went to see American Hustle with Paul.  Really enjoyed it.

When I came home, I did some googling of the movie and ABSCAM and was surprised how much of the movie is true.   Not all of it, but I won't spoil it  The beginning of the film says "Some of this actually happened".

I stand corrected, tomorrow the high will be 3 degrees.  Glad I don't have to go to work.  Guess I'll clean up the house and maybe start working on the den.
