That's terrible, DR George. (And DR Jeanne). How can people live with themselves when they do this kind of thing?

He dialated my eyes and it was the best of all possible outcomes: the ocular migraine, which mimics the retinal detachment , but is not serious and goes away  by itself

Yikes!!  I can't imagine going through that.  So glad it was not serious!

I must say I was really scared -  one of the parishioners at my church, a man my age, had a detached retina last year, he ignored the symptoms until the end of the work day -  he was a music teacher- and ended up blind in one eye- had to retire from teaching  and from running the contemporary  choir

I was told that now I have had one episode I will probably have it happen again but that if I relax  it will dissapate  in 30 - 60 minutes -  my episode lasted longer because I was so stressed out and that added to it

George - the person who caused the accident was probably not supposed to be behind the wheel, drunk, on drugs, unlicensed etc...

I have lost by badge once. If I lose it again, it will cost me $125 or $150 to replace it. I can't remember the price.

Thankfully, it is not a severe case. They're uncomfortable, but do not itch. She wants me to keep them bandaged, REST, and I'm not supposed to be out in public if I can help it. I have several things to take, as well. I stopped on the way home and purchased the necessary gauze, tape, and other supplies.

Jeanne, I am so sorry to read that it is shingles.  I have had several good friends who have had very severe cases.  My late friend, Stan, had it down one side of his face.  He was almost blinded in one eye.

As I was leaving work today, I started to pull out into traffic when a car sped into my lane. I stopped, but the car behind me didn't. He or she ran into the back of my car. Thankfully, it was light and there was no damage. But the car just sped off as if nothing happened. Excuse me, but I work for a car insurance company. What kind of driving is that?

Just got finished watching the musical of "Billy Elliott." It was a fairly decent bootleg and it showed how good most of the show really was. It comes off better on stage than it did on the recording and not just because the choreography was there. Plus, Emily Skinner was really good, as was to be expected.

I'd rescheduled a hair appointment in order to see the doctor today. I called my hairdresser and asked if he'd had chickenpox. Fortunately, he had them when he was a kid. If he hadn't, I would have been putting him at risk and I didn't want to do that. So I'll see him tomorrow and make a quick stop for groceries afterwards.

But the people who have had chicken pox are the ones that get shingles, unless they have the vaccine.

:o We have required badges, but they're only for identification...even though everyone pretty much knows everyone.  If we lose them, they're free to replace.  Most people have their keyless entry key card attached to their picture badge, but I don't.  I have my key card in my wallet and only use it when I enter the building through the side door (which is actually most of the time).  I keep my picture badge here at work because I don't want to take it with me when I leave the building.  I don't need my work identification when I'm not working. :)

Well, I must be leaving work.  The board meeting is almost over and I don't want to be the last one in the building after that. :)

Until later!

So pleased you had the best outcome, but sorry you had to go through this. At least you had help from the Vixter and your co-workers.

This was one of those crazy-driver days. Some people feel that every day is crazy-driver day, but in my stomping ground some days are worse than others. After seeing one incident after another, plus one totally out-of-it pedestrian, this was the finale: I was walking out of the drug store toward my car when I saw a new Mercedes back into a new Lexus SUV, which was parked. CRUNCH! And the Mercedes driver was starting to drive away! I couldn't believe it! I pointed to the Lexus, saying, "You just hit that car!" The Mercedes didn't stop. I continued pointing and saying, "You just hit that car!" The Mercedes stopped, and a man in his sixties, with a long, grey ponytail calmly got out and asked, "Did I hit something?" "Yes!" I said, "You just backed into that car!" A woman then got out of the SUV and looked at the damage. I was surprised there was so little--it was really just a scratch, but a loooonnng one. I left them to work it out among themselves, but I have a hunch it's that the woman's car, that she's a housekeeper or nanny entrusted with the family car. In any case, it's up to them.

At least the guy stopped.  Just yesterday, my friend Margo called me and said that she was hit yesterday late in the afternoon at an intersection and the guy who hit her car just took off!  It was getting dark, so she couldn't really get a description or a license plate.  No one around her stopped to help, either.  She did call the police but they didn't even want to write up a report because of no witnesses. :P

Vibes to George's friend Margo.

if the  symptoms go away  then its just the ocular migraine  if it is a detached retina they will not

Jeanne your guy was either oblivious in which case he needs a smaller car that he can maneuver or he was pretending he didn't notice and hoped  no one else did either

I couldn't see if he was on the phone or not, but it wasn't a large car. Could he actually not have noticed? In some cars I think that's possible, but I'm not sure why he backed up at all, since he was facing the right way. He wasn't even legally parked, which may be a clue.
