Well, you've read the notes, the notes were finished just like the book, and now it is time for you to post until the finished cows come home.

This seems to be a good time to send vibes out there to everyone-- for snow, for toothaches, being n the weather, being under the weather, and because it's a Wednesday in February.

Interesting twitter quote that was brought to mind by Dakota's situation with that boss who much later got let go:

"They just push and push and push and when you finally break and get tired of being sh**ted on all of a sudden you're the bad guy."

Morning, all! Stay warm & dry! I, unfortunately, did neither, since I foolishly took a 20-minute walk through the snow & rain rather than call someone from my office to pick me up. Eh, I needed the exercise anyway...

Congrats on the book, Bruce!

Here is a link to a brief article/video about that Evolution/Creationism debate that DR George referenced yesterday:

Good morning, all!  I slept in, and I'm getting a lot of weather news on the tv this morning. I'm still debating my physical therapy.  I moved the appointment to 2:00 thinking that a later time would give crews more time to clear off things. Who's to know?

Beyond that, I have no plans for today. I'll pick up and tidy, and maybe begin work on the recording booklet for ROBERTA. I have to assemble all of the dialogue and lyrics for New World.  I can cut and paste the dialogue, but I have to type all of the lyrics. There is a horrible typo in the DEAREST ENEMY booklet that I feared was my typing error, but it turned out to be an error by the New World Records typesetter.

DR vixmom, if I were dictator, you'd have an official car for driving in the City. I hope your toothache is nothing truly god-awful.

It's Wednesday and I'm thinking it's Friday. Oy!

Coffee!!!!

And the news reported this morning that one-third of this country believes in creationism, which i think should be renamed cretinism, and supports it being on the curriculum. It's no wonder there are so many medieval-mentality morons working as politicians: keep America stupid. I detest  these fools.

It is a mess in Manhattan. Larry, if I were you I would cancel PT. There are slush piles and puddles all over, especially at the curbs. It's raining/sleeting right now and it's supposed to keep up all day!

Good morning, all.

The smell of a damned fine cup of coffee (I've been watching some Twin Peaks) permeates the air and wafts through my nostrils.

Time to drink it!

Well they've added a number of new events.  Maybe they had to do that to get them all in.

Then reverse them. I think that the Opening Ceremonies should be before a full day of events.

Well NBC does everything on tape delay. We are lucky, in Canada everything is shown live even if it is at 6am. They do have prime time shows at night as well. I would rather watch or record events when they are on then see a pre-packaged taped piece.

In 1928, the American artist Grant Wood ("American Gothic") received a commission to create a giant stained-glass window for the American Legion in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In preparation, he traveled to Munich to study ancient stained-glass techniques under Germany’s famed master craftsmen. The window he created was a masterpiece of technique, form and color, but it drew fire from misguided "patriots" who criticized Wood for studying with the Germans — the enemy! — so soon after the first World War. One of the most vocal groups was the local chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.

Wood’s elegant response: Daughters of Revolution, a satirical painting showing three dour spinstresses standing self-righteously — one, pinky extended in haughty indignation, holding a teacup — in front of Emmanuel Leutz’s famous "Washington Crossing the Delaware."

Wood’s point, lost completely on the knee-jerk reactionaries the painting so elegantly mocked, lies in the fact that "Washington Crossing the Delaware" — that beloved icon of American patriotism — was painted by a German.

VIBES to everyone on this insane day.  Our pleasure here so far has been several inches of snow, but unfortunately we are right on the snow/sleet line, and I now hear the little tap tap tap of sleet hitting the house.  This is going to end up rather ugly.  Feels like a Saturday here, with everyone having prepared yesterday to stay home today.

For those who are curious, here is the window:

It's still in the American Legion hall in Cedar Rapids. Incidentally, the model for the female figure was Nan Wood Graham, Grant Wood's sister, who was also the model for the female figure in "American Gothic."

Happily the big snow storm that was supposed to happen today is now just going to be 5cms of snow (2 inches).
