Interesting section of the NY Times obituary for Mr. Leigh:

"In his later years he ventured into real estate in a memorable way, creating Jackson 21, a village-like development in Jackson Township, N.J., on land he had begun buying in the 1960s as a tax shelter. The development was intended for artists of all kinds, Mr. Leigh said, though others were accepted as well.

But he had one stipulation, as he made clear in his television commercials — in which he starred, looking a bit like Quixote — and other promotions: “If you’re not a nice person, don’t call.” "

that's why I never called

LOL!

Went back to watching another Edie Adams show. Allan Sherman is the special guest. Very strange. He got to do "Hello, Muddah" and a funny sketch as a switchblade-toting beat poet (also featuring George Furth in a small bit). But Sherman's now joining Adams in singing "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" with lots of children around them. Not good.

She swerved to miss another bike rider coming out of a tunnel.

I'm guessing one of them was on the wrong side of the tunnel bath :(  I guess it could have been worse had they crashed.

Jane, are you planning another trip?

We are going to visit our boys. :)
are they together now?

I wish.  Bryan is in Cleveland and Craig in the DC area.  I hate how scattered we are.

I thought that a New England Boiled Dinner was a brisket, not a corned beef.  It is boiled with potatoes and carrots, but no saurkraut.

Had a great time listening to the original cast album of LI'L ABNER today.  I put it on the Big Speakers and cranked it up.  Beautiful.  Still a favorite album.  Played the CD with the extras on it like the "Sadie Hawkins Day Ballet", the inclusion of which is nothing short of a miracle.  Why, oh why (oh why oh) couldn't so much more Broadway orchestral work have been preserved over the years?  The stuff would never have fit on LPs, but how wonderful it would be if they'd at least taped these things for posterity and they could be issued now.

I doubt anyone ever thought that LP's were going to become obsolete.  If they had, nobody would have bought them.

What is a tunnel bath?

"TUNNEL BATH

Phototherapy, usually employing infrared light, may be applied from a radiant heat source over part of the patient to be treated in the physiotherapy department, or an array of lamps may be used in a special frame forming a tunnel over the patient or part to be treated. The main effect is superficial heating causing increased blood supply, relief of pain, muscle relaxation and perhaps biochemical effects. Similar types exist employing ultraviolet fluorescent tubes providing UVA (280-400 nm), sometimes called the Theraktin tunnel."

I came in and said  oh I am so disappointed   I wanted to show you pictures on my computer  but I need a big table -to set up  but maybe another  time...

she was out of bed and in her chair ready to do to the library right away

:)

I hope the nieces can put together something for future visits now that they know the secret to getting her up.  I fortunately have always had a dog with me when I went to nursing homes.

Now, I guess, you will have to take Keith.

United, so far, is giving measurements for the second, personal sized, carryon.  They can't be larger than 17 tall x 10 wide x 9 deep.  I understand why these should be small enough to fit under the seat instead of in the overhead bins.

LOL!  I thought you wrote crayon.

Here when a bus is not running they post a sign on top of the bus stop.  It seems only fair.

Canada is quite a civilized country.

it is-  i would move there if they had  any seasons besides winter and winter lite

You don't like Canadian summers?

We have gone to visit my inlaws in July and the days are wonderfully long - sun up at 4:30 and sunset after midnight -- but it never gets warmer than 70, or 75 F  which would be lovely if it was  a three month summer like here, but it  is a short short summer -- they often have snow into late May and as early as  late August

Where do they live? None of that sounds like typical Canada to me. I don't know anywhere where the sun comes up at 4:30am and goes down at midnight. Nor where the high is only 70F. Snow in May?

they live in Northwest Canada- Grande Prairie  and yes they have had snow in May  several times and  snow in August while I was there -  they  are  in the County  not the City and live in the hill area
