Suspended for asking Miss America to the prom?  He didn't mug her, he didn't molest her, and I think it was charming. What the hell is wrong with education these days?

I agree, but do you do with a student who was told not to do this? Community service would be appropriate if this were a court, but it's not.

And the word of the day is: AGNIZE!

That was a enjoyable tv series with Donna Pescow, Robert Hayes and Doris Roberts.

Let the time flow; Let the love grow
Let the rain shower; Let the rose flower
Love, it seeks; Love, it finds
Love, it conquers; Love, it binds

We come to each other from different worlds
Drawn to each other by the love inside of us
We give to each other our different worlds
Long as we can do it
Life, we're gonna breeze right through it
Let the time flow; Let the love grow
Let the rain shower; Let the rose flower
Love, it seeks; Love, it finds
Love, it conquers; Love, it binds
Love, it seeks and Love, it finds
Love, it conquers
Love, it binds-ahhhhhh
Love, it seeks; Love, it finds
Love, it conquers; Love, it binds

I used to love Robert Hayes, not only in AIRPLANE, but in the various TV series in which he appeared.  Judging from his recent photo on line, he is aging about as wlll as I am.

A friend has opened a new place in town called the Golden Gloves Social House and Boozeteria. I like that word: Boozeteria.

TOD

I don't remember the time of year or the occasion, but I, too, was in the seventh grade and the dance was held in the school courtyard.  The event is memorable for being when I was introduced to the Twist, and I sort of tried but was utterly incapable of moving the right way.  I later bought sheet music to one or two of the Chubby Checker songs (I remember Peppermint Twist being one of the titles), and found that playing those simplistic arrangements on the piano was no less humiliating than trying to dance it.

I believe that THE PEPPERMINT TWIST was actually Joey Dee and the Starliters.

I said "tape", but what is the term these days?  We don't "tape" things any more, and we certainly don't "film" them.  We could say "record", but that would be too easily taken to mean only audio.

My guess is it's still the accepted term.

Saturday morning greetings!  Fr. Richard has been called to the hospital bedside of a parishioner who had emergency surgery last night.  Vibes & prayers for Mr. B would be appreciated.

Prayers  and vibes for Mr. B.!

And there was the spin-off LOVETT SEEKS, LOVETT FINDS theme when they tried to turn SWEENEY into a sitcom

"Let the Times know, let the buzz grow
Let the blood shower, let the love sour
Lovett bakes and Lovett brines
Lovett’s bonkers, Lovett pines

She pines but that guy loves a different girl;
She plots and she plans ‘til she causes a big fuss
She’s sure that he can’t love that different girl
Then there’s lots of noise an’
She says his wife died from poison

(chorus) Let the Times know, etc.

She grinds while she drives off that different girl
She does it for love that might stand the test of time
Her love gets his mind off that different girl
With this love they harbor
It’s such fun to be a barber

Let the crimes grow, let the praise flow
Let the blood shower, let the love sour
Lovett bakes and Lovett brines
Lovett’s bonkers, Lovett pines
Lovett sneaks and Lovett finds -
Lovett sneaks and Lovett finds
Lovett conquers, Lovett gri-inds"

I think I am glad that I skipped SWEENEY the sitcom; although I always loved the theme song.

According to what was posted he wasn't suspended for asking her to prom. he was suspended because the principal knew of his plans in advance. And the kid was told NOT TO DO IT. I get that there should be some consequences for disobeying. But suspension?

Thank you to DRs Singdaw, John G, FJL, and Jennifer for the kind thoughts for Mr. B.  Unfortunately, he passed away early this afternoon, with Fr. Richard and a large extended family at his side.  They will all need our thoughts and prayers now, especially Mrs. B.  She is also in very poor health.

My thoughts and prayers to the family.  I am sorry that my prayers were not in time.

DR Jeanne thanks for the Helms link.  They don't exactly state the recipes are from the original Helms Bakery only that they are "expecting the delightful doughnut-and-cream-puff-gloriousness of yesterday".

Also, thank you for not commenting I wrote clothes instead of close-lol

Oh, I thought Vixmom wrote that.

That looks very much like my first kitty, Julius Caesar, JC for short.

At work one day, a female co-worker heard me mention my kitty, JC; and was horrified.  She thought he was named for the religious figure.

My former supervisor's name is Judy Covell...JC, also.  I don't think anyone mistook her for JC Superstar.

And now, I'm off to my parents' house to celebrate my niece's 30th birthday.  Her actual birthday was on Thursday, the 17th, but everyone was off doing different things, so today's the party day.  It'll be very low key and just the families.  She did invite her (very-religiously-conservative and not-very-accepting) father and his family so that she could celebrate with her half-sister.

My niece is gay and doesn't have any problem with it...but her father does.  It's totally his problem.

Greetings, all,

I hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday.

I am off to another rehearsal, but this one will be tinged with a very unsettling event. Yesterday we got the news that the composer of the vampire musical was in a fatal car accident a few days back. He was not someone I knew well at all. I only met him a couple of brief times, but he was working on the changes each rehearsal brought. We seem to be going forward with this project anyway.  Perhaps it will be a way to honor him. It just feels terribly odd.

If nothing else, it reminds me that the time we have with those we love is to be treasured. And we should always let them know how much we care for them.

Have a lovely evening, and may you and all of your loved ones stay safe and cherished.
