Jane, I really doubt anyone has the old Helm's recipes - the closest I've ever found to a Helm's chocolate donut is Entenmmen's or however you spell it.

Entenmann's (I looked up the spelling) really!  I wonder if I would still love the Helms donuts if I had one today.

No one said anything about having the original recipes, but Sherry Yard is an associate of Wolfgang Puck's and I think we can assume from that that she's quite a skilled chef. They are trying to bring back the old-time flavors and ambiance. How well they succeed is to be determined, but I'm glad to see them attempting it.

Once they're up and running maybe BK will meet me there for a little tasting. I think it'll be fun to check out in any case.

I look forward to your report.

:)  We may have to mail you a sample.

Sounds good!  Please send some egg bagels and a corn rye with it ;)

I'm pleased that you're doing another production. what changed your mind?

I guess I am feeling okay.  I decided that if being in this show would help these young actors, then I owed it to them and the community to give back.

That's nice.  I am sorry though that you are angry when you leave.

Well, if it happens again tonight, I will probably explode.

Thursday night, while I was at the theater, we had an exciting (?) event transpire.  Either a tonado, or more likely a microburst, touched down a block from my apartment in Point Defiance Park.

Was the private company reasonably priced or just reliable?

Greetings, all,

I hope everyone is having a lovely Saturday.

I am off to another rehearsal, but this one will be tinged with a very unsettling event. Yesterday we got the news that the composer of the vampire musical was in a fatal car accident a few days back. He was not someone I knew well at all. I only met him a couple of brief times, but he was working on the changes each rehearsal brought. We seem to be going forward with this project anyway.  Perhaps it will be a way to honor him. It just feels terribly odd.

If nothing else, it reminds me that the time we have with those we love is to be treasured. And we should always let them know how much we care for them.

Have a lovely evening, and may you and all of your loved ones stay safe and cherished.

The wind died down enough to get a few good photos of the Cherry Blossoms behind us.  There are a few photos with my hair blowing in all directions-lol

That is the Jefferson Memorial in the background.

This was the best day weather wise, not too hot as it was the day we arrived and not cold and wet as it was the next day.

What a day this was.  It poured and poured.  We met Craig for breakfast and visited a bit at his place before leaving him to study and go to his class while we went to a movie.  Craig couldn't get out early and was late picking us up to meet his friends for dinner.  Fortunately it all worked out and we met them at a casual place for drinks and a light dinner before going to the White House.  We did a lot of walking in the cold wind and rain in light weight clothes but it was worth it.  We had a good time.

When Craig was in Romania in the Peace Corps he had 5 American tv shows he could watch and was grateful for them.  One was The West Wing.  He was excited to be in the Press Room which made being there extra fun.

Thank you for the kind words for Mrs. B and her family.  I suspect we'll have a trip to Lima sometime in the coming week, but Fr. Richard doesn't expect to hear anything before Monday.

I've had a very relaxing day, but he's exhausted.

Good evening. I thought of BK this morning when the renters in the house across the street began BOOM-BOOM-BOOMING their music at 4:30 a.m. I gave up trying to sleep.

Good thing, because there was an unexpected tapping at my door at 6:03 a.m. by a young neighbor who came to help bake some rolls for the Easter morning breakfast. I told her that was TOMORROW.

So we went hiking up the mountain. We left the mountain too late for the church easter egg coloring, so we bought some eggs and dye and she boiled/colored two dozen eggs at my house. After that, I got her to wade in the pond to do some maintenance, which she thought was thrilling.

A nice day.

I forgot to post this earlier in the week, but I was at a meeting on Wednesday or Thursday with several fairly high-ranking people at the company. The subject was social media and the lone woman in the room was talking about Twitter or sending a tweet. She wanted the past tense of tweet, but instead she used a vulgar term for a woman's private parts.

And an awkward silence descended on the room. Someone finally changed the topic and we went on. Her face was beet red when she realized what she had said.

I felt bad for her then. Still do, but I am now laughing at it all, too.

What a horrible story. What was his name?

So sorry to have brought such difficult news here. It was just hard not to think about it in the scheme of everything.
His name is Brian Leader. We are indeed pressing on and doing the reading.
