I arrived home at 8;02 p.m. Even for a play that runs one hour and twenty minutes and starts at 7:00 p.m., this would be some kind of record.

For the first time (I believe), in my 58 year career, we cancelled a performance of a show, thus proving that the show does NOT alsways go on.  Around 6:45, the young man who plays my grandson came over and sat down next to where I was sitting.  "Madelynne is hurt," he says.

Huh? What do you mean she is hurt?

"Well, she bent her little finger all the way backwards. I think she broke it," he says.  "She said I did it, but I didn't."

Did you tell Scott (our stage manager, our director, and the Artistic Director of the theater)?

"Uh no," he says.

Finally Scott comes around to give us the five minutes call.

Not so fast, Scott.  You have an injured cast member.

For the next ten minutes or so, eveybody is running around like chickens minus heads.

Finally Madelynne says she thinks she can go on.  The curtain speech is given, the opening music plays, and the girls go on laughing and talking.Five minutes into the scene, Scott comes running into the green room.  "Where is Madelynne, he says.

She is onstage.

"Oh no she isn't," says Scott.

Sure enogh, Madelynne is found throwing up in the bathroom, while the other three actors onstage are trying to cover the missing lines.  Well, this isn't going to work, so Scott goes out and stops the scene and announces their will be a delay.  After a 15 minute delay, the show is cancelled, the money refunded, parents are called, and Madelynne goes off to either the ER or the Doc-in-a-Box.

It wouldn't have been so bad, but there were a couple of reviewers in the house.  Everyone said they would return another day, but judging by the look on Scott's face, I am not sure he believes that.

we served 61 at our soup kitchen today -  todays menu was swedish meatballs, salad, roll and red velvet cake

we were able to serve all   give seconds to those that wished then and send a grandma, and the five grandkids under the age of 10 she is raising, home with enough so they could all eat  dinner

Back from the Seder, which was much fun - delightful people for the most part.  The drive was long both ways - an hour or so going and about forty-five minutes coming back.  But really only one seven mile bad stretch.
