TOD

Probably a film that never played in the US. I saw it in Toronto, Canada in 1971. It was a film version of a British comedy series called "On The Buses". It had a scene that was so funny that people were laughing so hard and long that people around me (including myself) were doubled up. I don't think I laughed as long or hard in any movie.

TOD

 I cannot think of a movie  moment  but   the TOD brought me back to when Vixdad and I went to see Nunsense off Broadway  many many moons ago

Vixdad has a very infectious belly laugh, and when he is really  amused he folds up, tears running down his face, helpess with laughter

He was already in  laugh mode when  Sister Mary Amnesia  collapsed back on he bed revealing the soles of her shoes with  "Left" and "Right"  written on them,  and they were on the wrong feet

he just collapsed with laughter which set  all the rest of the audience off again,   "Mother Superior",  tapping her palm with her ferule, climbed the stairs to our row and sternly told him  that if he couldn't control himself she would send him to  detention... which just set him and seconds later the rest of the audience off again... he probably added  15 minutes to the running time of the show that day

The biggest laughs I've ever heard in a movie theater were at PORKY'S.

Recalling Frank Rich's description of the laughter at CITY OF ANGELS:

"This is an evening in which even a throwaway wisecrack spreads laughter like wildfire through the house, until finally the roars from the balcony merge with those from the orchestra and the pandemonium takes on a life of its own. Only the fear of missing the next gag quiets the audience down. To make matters sweeter, the jokes sometimes subside just long enough to permit a show-stopping song or performance or two to make their own ruckus at center stage."

Good morning, all! I slept late and I'm in a peculiar mood today: can't move left, can't move right. I'm not sure what's causing this stasis, but I am neither amused nor happy about it. I'm sure part of it's the clutter I'm currently living in while the contents of my bathroom are all over my living area and every trip to the bathroom means digging through cartons and plastic bags for things. Color me frustrated.

I do have my Cincinnati orchestration to work on, although I still hate the orchestration they use, so I will continue with that since it's the one thing that I can focus positively on.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Good vibes for everyone today!  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Time for the TOD, and then I must be off.  One memory that always stayed with me:
There's a gag in the movie "10" that, the two times I went to it (in L.A., and then while in Miami Beach a few months later), came as close to stopping the show that a moment in a movie can do.  (It was probably the best Blake Edwards gag setup in the whole damned movie.)  The minister's old, deaf, shuffling, housekeeper farts loudly on her way out of the room -- whereupon the dog, heretofore napping contentedly, jolts awake and runs from the room like a bat out of hell.  The minister explains to his guest, "Whenever Mrs. Kissel breaks wind, we beat the dog", and the audience exploded.  It's the end of that scene, and Edwards and his editor knew their business.  The transition to the next scene is a prolonged shot or series of shots that's just plain filler, allowing the laughter to play itself out and die down without anyone missing whatever followed.
TOD:
It's been so long since I've seen a movie in a theater that I don't really remember a lengthy laugh.
I do recall that, when we watched BRIDESMAIDS on DVD, I was laughing so hard that we had to put the film on "Pause" for a couple of minutes.
If you saw the movie, I'm sure you know what scene I'm talking about.
And I imagine that Jane is watching TV.
Yup, except we forgot to pick up a movie for Keith so.....tonight we will be watching THE HOMEFRONT.  I expect lots of action since this is a Jason Statham movie.
