Well, you've read the notes, the notes were mostly productive, and now it is time for you to post until the mostly productive cows come home.

Today will be an easy day.  If I get up early enough (and if I just want to), I'll go to work for a few hours to make up some time because of having to leave early to get to the theater.  If I don't want to, I'll stay home, watch TV and do some laundry before going to the theater tonight.

Tough choices, I know. ;)

What wonderful posts from last night.  I enjoyed all of the posts from DR CILLA LIZ about her day trip...and the videos.

VIBES to DR FJL on his upcoming tribunal.

Today is the day....yes today is the day....

Dancing With the Putnam County Stars.....I am hoping we are somewhere in the middle of the pack rather than at the bottom of the heap....but we shall see.

I have just learned that two of the judges are CLOSE friends with one of the competitors, so I see his star rising in the East like the Sun.

Time will tell.

TOD:

There was a West Side Story jazz LP that I liked very much, but I can't remember the name of the group.....

And there used to be Broadway music LP's that were on sale at the grocery store for 49 cents....each one had the music from two shows....usually in suites that were a lot like overtures....I particularly remember the one that featured MY FAIR LADY and THE KING AND I.

Good morning, all! I have a bit of work to accomplish this morning for Rob Berman's Trinity Church concerts, and then I will meet Bruce Pomahac for lunch before we see Inventing Mary Martin at the York Theatre.

I've got to put together this morning notes for the first of the three concerts, Jerome Kern's 1917 Princess Theatre show, Oh, Boy!. I'll give him notes on what happened in the world and the New York stage in 1917, a short thing on the Princess Theatre, how Ray Comstock, and Elizabeth Marbury became its producers, and a synopsis of the show and hw the songs fit into the plot.

I just got this new Sheldon Harnick 2-CD set assembled for his 90th birthday, and I love it!

VIBES to DR FJL on his upcoming tribunal.

Thanks, Jrand!

Two days from 10 am to 5 pm are scheduled, which it seems is the norm for scheduling.

I gather it's just before a judge, not a jury (so to Dan M, where it takes place likely doesn't matter for the result re Bronx vs. Manhattan, except for witnesses getting there) - and I assume it's a "public hearing" only the way any trial is open for people who want to see it, and since the transcript becomes public info, the way the entire investigation report did.  But except for rare cases, i assume no one REALLY shows up to watch who's not really involved or interested.

I also liked the jazz influenced covers of Broadway and films more than the Ferrante & Teicher/Ray Connif/101 Strings/Percy Faith type of albums. I found the latter types to be way over the top for my taste.

BUT sometimes you could find a rarity. A track of music cut from the show and the album being the only source for it. Like I once found "The Quests" a musical sequence cut from Camelot

DR Jane that is interesting that you actually fall asleep reading.  Do you wake up the next day not remembering parts of what you read?  I like to be really alert when i read so i don't even read when i am sleepy.  I often fall asleep with the tv on but never watching a program.  I often watch programs i have recorded at night. But I stop the show as soon as i feel sleepy.

What was up with those strange pants Ricky Martin was wearing on the TV version of DANCING WITH THE STARS last week?

Ricky Martin on the Tv version of Dancing with the Stars last week - exciting number, but the pants needed tailoring around the - well - boxer shorts area

I hear that I will be in the audience as well.    I am so this show's target audience that they might as well write "Dear FJL" in the program.

Good morning, all.

Got to sleep in a little bit, then I drove a station wagon load of JUNK to the dumpsters, an annual thing my town has been doing for the past several years.

Edit:  Trash and recycling are weird issues around here.  After years of rough starts, we finally have a good, easy to understand and manage, recycling program available to us.  But this town in particular has never provided a way to easily get rid of one's large trash items, not even a place where you could haul things and pay a small price per lb. to drop it off.  Also, none of the weekly trash/recycle pickup is handled by the city.  You choose one of the commercial companies to do it, and it does cost a shiny dime or two.  So when they started this annual "clean-up day" several years back, in which they'd provide dumpsters, etc., it became an instant success.

I'm theoretically "here" for the first of the three Trinity concerts, but I will have just been on the road all day the previous day (very quick trip to see family), so no guarantees I'll have it in me to get up and into the city for that one.  But I'm in for the second and third.
