It's not hot enough to need the AC on, which wasn't the case yesterday.  I'm about to jog so we'll see how it is out there.

Thank you to everyone for the good thooughts about my mom's birthday.  Her birthday is May 3.  I doubt that my mom would have lived to be 98 (although her mother died just five months short of 100), but we still got robbed of a lot of years we should have had with her.

Thanks to everyone for the vibes for Dancing With the [Putnam County] Stars.

I am a bit distressed about the outcome.....but what can I say.  Sharon and I were in last place....yes, last place.

The strange thing is that there were 12 couples in the competition.  Eleven couples got perfect scores of 30, and Sharon and I got 29.

One of the judges doesn't like Sharon OR her husband, and she had mentioned that he might do something like that.....which he did.  So it was kind of a bummer....but we had fun.  And much money was raised for the Putnam County Youth Development Commission.

The audience was a bit confused as well....but it was a nice evening.

Great picture, but like everyone else said, you wuz robbed!! >:(

I posted this to the NYT comments, and since I know the world must be waiting for a parody of "STAR"  :) - couldn't work in Joy Behar, though

Tune of “Star” (Julie Andrews rendition for the seriously egregiously overlooked this year, like Denzel Washington, Daniel Craig, Zachary Quinto, Michael Hall, Daniel Radcliffe)

If his fame in one hundred nations makes the nominators nod off
If the buzz about his ovations only gives them reason to scoff
If those nominators say close but no cigar
The chances are:  That guy’s a big star

If the fellow’s fame the world over makes committee members all sneer
If his grosses rolling in clover makes them act like he isn’t here
If those nominators ignore his repertoire
The chances are:  The guy’s a big star

If the crowds pursue him, and press people woo him
The Tony folk view him as sub-par
If the guy is someone critics give a hand for
Someone tourists pay a grand for
Somehow the committee acts bizarre
He’s a genuine, wonderful, down-to-earth, talented
Perfect but Tony-free star!

Very funny, Fred!

The subject is now open and all is right with the world.

G'night!

Someone around these here parts had a brain lapse.

But now, all is right with the world. :D

What TCB said.

Well, I must be off.  Today is the one and only matinee of "Chamber Music."  After last night's full house, there's hope that we'll have a full house again, but you never know what's going to happen at any performance.  After the show, I'm going to my parents' house for dinner.  My sister and niece will be there, too.  We'll probably play either Phase 10 or Scrabble afterward.

Have a good day, all!

Jeanne, the hearing is first week in June, and thanks for the vibes.  I just got the notification about it a couple of days ago.

My recent angst has been over my troublesome back issues. The program that worked for me for many years just isn't working anymore. I REALLY don't want surgery and have my doubts that it'd be all that helpful, anyway. So I am looking for alternatives. On Tuesday I'll see a new doc, the primary care physician that I selected at UCLA. I hope he understands my condition--the majority of doctors do not. Then we'll see whether he approves the referrals I request (it's a long list) and how much of the cost I'll have to take care of myself.

My hairdresser's neighbor recently had the surgery. I'd like to talk to her. Our situations are somewhat different, but it might be enlightening.

Vibes that the doctors (and insurance company) can make everything work out for you, Jeanne!

Jrand, in addition to the obvious favoritism, isn't it a bit strange that all the others had perfect scores? Is this the custom or is grading more like the Olympics?

More like the Russian Nationals.

Thanks for asking, DR Jane. Using the cloth has prevented any new rash, but the original one has not abated in the least.      :P

Do you have any Coritsone 5 cream or ointment in the house?

Hugs to TCB, remembering his Mom's birthday yesterday.

It was my mother's birthday too. She had a good day despite still missing my Dad

Good for your mother, it says a lot about her.
