PIE IN THE FACE
« on: May 12, 2014, 12:16:53 AM »

Well, you've read the notes, the notes were like a pie in the face - messy and occasionally amusing, and now it is time for you to post until the pie in the face cows come home.

I don't like Lou on "Mad Men," either. :P

I have never seen any part of MAD MEN, but if I had, I wouldn't like Lou either.

Wasn't it THE GREAT RACE that had the big pie fight at the end?

I will have to think about others.

Good morning, all! 5:30 arrived far too early. I was wide awake at 3:30 and then spent two hours dozing un and off; there was a tune stuck in my head that I have now mercifully forgotten.  I had a strange dream about my siblings, and I think I was back in Ohio. My wonderful sister-in-law Jo had brought home a dog that had just had its vision restored and it was having a lark. Randy and I were up to something. The Macbeths were somehow in this nonsense and Lady M was her usually vain ugly self.

In another 75 minutes I will take a bus to my eye appointment, then proceed to Trinity Place for the first rehearsal of excerpts from Kern's "Oh, Boy!," head back uptown and prepare t go out to see Jason Graae's 7:00 show at Birdland. I would rather fall over than go, but I should be home by 9:00, I hope.

Here is the aftermath of the pie fight in The Great Race with director Blake Edwards standing unscathed

TOD

I can't even tell you what the last film I saw that one could be considered slapstick.

Today's "comedy" films are filled with bathroom, gross out and sexual "gags" that IMHO are not funny. From what I read/hear about these films they are trying to top one another with how far they can push the button of gross out.

I really think the Blake Edwards (Director of the above The Great Race) was the last director to make films that had slapstick humor.

Sometimes his latter film worked and other mostly they didn't, but the humor was far superior to any of the comedy.

Perhaps his last great comedy bit in the film was the "glow in the dark condom fight" from the film Skin Deep (Which was basically a hit and mostly miss comedy)

Spirit Airline based here in Florida has rebranded their website to better explain their business model of low cost fair and why they charge extra for baggage, carrying on luggage and even if you want a bottle of water.

They are trying to inform perspective passengers what their actual costs will be. They are trying to improve on their image. An informative page and video. I've never used them because of all the negative things I have read and heard about.
