The church is having an International  food night in honor of Pentecost.  We are  supposed to make a food reflecting our ethnic heritage .  The Vixter and I will have separate tables.  I need to bring a Hungarian dish while the Vixter is cooking something British

Good evening, after a nice long mostly enjoyable day in suburbia, where people were truly reveling in the summer weather.

That is truly a wonderful video, DR John G.  Thanks so much for sharing it!

Much better than the audio recording (of a much later vintage) that I posted some weeks ago.

Since we do not have HBO, we are hoping that The Normal Heart will eventually appear on home video. Along with the Six By Sondheim documentary.

Did anyone watch THE NORMAL HEART tonight?

Opinions please.

I wasn't crazy about it, but I may have some rethinking about it as I may be too close to the material since I directed it in January.

I thought it was a little heavy handed, no humor and showing things that were only talked about in the play took away the power of the scenes.

Don't want to get into specifics in case people are still planning to watch it

Watched Mad Men, which was very good and makes the AMC decision even more crass.  Then watched the first half of Rollerball, which I've never seen.

A real lazy day today.  Watched four DVDs, read about 30 pages and napped.

And now to bed.

Good night, all.

I bought on eBay and just received this past week an HBO Emmy For-Your-Consideration 29-DVD set that included "The Normal Heart."  I just watched it last night (or was it the night before) and thought that it was very good.  I've never seen the play, but I do have the 2-CD recording that was done 20 years ago.

Some musings from a nice gent who saw our show last night: http://cahighways.org/wordpress/?p=9298

That's great, BK!  He certainly went into detail about the show.

I forgot that last year when my money was running out I canceled Shpwtime, so I can't watch THE NORMAL HEART tonight. So, I'm watching PHILOMENA. I love judi Dench.

The screener copy that I got is copy-guarded, so I can't copy it. :P

Until today, I had never heard of Sylvia.      :P

She's one of those singers who had a minor career for a short while, but then was never heard from. :-\

George, if you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay for that 29 DVD set?
