Well, you've read the notes, the notes were tranquil, and now it is time for you to post until the tranquil cows come home.

For the first time in a while, I get to sleep in today.  I'll need to do a little laundry and then I'm ushering tonight for the Masterworks Choral Ensemble and their show, Sing Sinatra: Music of Ol’ Blue Eyes.  But I also want to go to work (after the aforementioned laundry has been completed) and make up a few hours...THEN I'll go and usher for the Sinatra choral show.

Have a good day, all!

poem

There is a game
The hardest one
No one knows how to play
You don't roll doubles
or get 200 for passing go.
The game is called peace

the poem was written about 42 years ago and is still relevant

I'm not a big fan of Leone's DOLLAR trilogy either.  They're okay, but none make my list of favorite Westerns.

However, I love Leone's ONCE UPON A TIME IN AMERICA.  It's a one of my all-time favorites...even though I'm not sure about the ending.

BTW: I've caught some of the soon-to-be restored scenes on YouTube, including the one with Louise Fletcher. They are unnecessary and were cut for good reason.

You don't have to put deleted scenes back into a movie just because they exist.    They did that with 1900.

The 3 hour version is terrific, but the restored 4 hour edition, which (I believe) is the only version available on DVD, is a bore.

Saturday morning greetings!  Day 2 of the AAUW garage sale is under way and, although not scheduled, I'll go over around noon to help with the beginning of the half-price sale.

I am going to watch my niece at an outdoor swim meet today.  It's the first one they've had outside. It was supposed to rain but now it seems like the rain may hold off. I guess i should bring an umbrella and jacket just in case.

Remember
By Christina Rossetti
Remember me when I am gone away,
         Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
         Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.

Will there really be a 'Morning'?

by Emily Dickinson

Will there really be a "Morning"?
Is there such a thing as "Day"?
Could I see it from the mountains
If I were as tall as they?

Has it feet like Water lilies?
Has it feathers like a Bird?
Is it brought from famous countries
Of which I have never heard?

Oh some Scholar! Oh some Sailor!
Oh some Wise Man from the skies!
Please to tell a little Pilgrim
Where the place called "Morning" lies!

A late good morning, all.

Been lazing around in the recliner, waiting for the coffee to do its job and for the sun to burn off the overcast.

The latter means that I must get moving on some mowing and other yard-type work that's so long overdue it isn't even funny, thanks to the rain this past week and beyond.

Good morning, all!  I stayed in bed all morning, and I plan to spend the day doing absolutely nothing more than necessary, I d have to pay estimated taxes and a couple of bills, and that's my day.  Beyond that I have no plans.

DR vixmom, between your health and your car, you need an AAA physician. I do hope you are feeling better.

DR cillaliz, i would love to go to this talk on haunted places with you.

Good morning, all.

Did the sleep study last night, which means little sleep. And from the preliminary results, I have to relearn sleeping again. But I may be able to get rid of the mask and use the nasal pillows now, which is a step up.

After that, I came home and slept.

The start of a favorite, from Noel Coward:

I can remember, I can remember
The months of November and December
Were filled for me with peculiar joys
So different from those of other boys.
For other boys would be counting the days
Until end of term and holiday time;
But I was acting in Christmas plays
While they were taken to pantomimes.
I didn't envy their new suits,
Their children's dances and Christmas trees;
My life had wonderful substitutes
For such conventional treats as these.
I didn't envy their country larks,
Their organized games in panelled halls,
While they made snowmen in stately parks,
I was counting the curtain calls.

TOD:

I think of lyrics as poetry, so the words and works of Cole Porter, Dorothy Fields, Sondheim, Mercer, Loesser, et al. could be here, too.
