Yes indeedy, Van was one of Willson's clients. Willson pretty much supplied Warner Bros. with all their male actor needs in the late 50s early 60s.

I wonder if Willson and the Warner TV producer had some sort of deal.

DR JRand63, I see that Warner Archive is releasing CLAUDELLE INGLISH on DVD, if it hasn't already.

DR elmore3003  - in that case, is it wise to get on the super's bad side?

Believe me, I am indeed worried about it, and since he's got a set of my apartment keys, it does scare me since I've had the impression a couple of times that someone's been in my apartment.  Still, today is exactly three months since the ceiling fell in on March 17, and it should have been repaired two months ago.  At this point, he's jerking me around. I think he's also avoiding me.

I am home. I am calling a locksmith to replace my door locks. I cannot accuse the super of being in my apartment, but I have had the feeling a couple of times that someone has been in while I'm not here. The only other set of keys is with my neighbor, and she's had them for twenty years.

Larry, maybe you could get one of those hidden nanny-cams that only records when there's movement.  They can be hidden in a clock or a teddy bear and not be noticed.  Then you'll have evidence that someone's been in your apartment.

I have that with me here at work, also.  That's on my "to be listened to" pile, but further down since I've heard it once already.  Just came today:  "Aladdin" and just arrived last week:  "West Side Story" (download with Cheyenne Jackson), "Violet," "Bullets Over Broadway" and "Ahrens & Flaherty: Nice Fighting You."  I have a lot of invoices to pay today, so I have a lot of listen-while-on-the-computer time.

Terrible casting on that new recording: I like Errico, Victoria Clark is clueless, Brent Barrett is miscast in the Kenny Baker role and sounds as though he should play Whitelaw.

I've spoken to the landlord who was appalled that nothing had been done in three months. The super is going to throw a fit.

We just watched GAMBIT with Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz.

We didn't stop laughing.

The script is by the Coen Brothers.

We watched it the other night and, for the most part, enjoyed it, though I had trouble buying the ending.

From DR Vixmom:
Quote
I didn't realize it was  book  I will have to look for it -- the first time we saw  the movie  we thought it was terrible --- but it seemed to be constantly onthe cable stations and we ended up seeing bits and pieces and then  ended up watching it again from start to finish   and suddenly  we "got" it

I think it takes  multiple viewings to appreciate it

When I finally get around to reading it I shall give it a fair chance if I don't initially like it.

From DR Vixmom:
Quote
I read American Gods  several years ago -- it was weird ( well it was by Neil Gaiman so that is to be expected)  but I couldn't put it down

(which really annoyed Vixdad because he had bought it for himself and I kept stealing it everytime he put it down)

Yes, I expected it to be a bit weird, and the writing to be excellent.  I really like the narrator which is why I think the book is engrossing so far.

I recently read THE SEA by John Banville, another strange book though I'm not sure it is intended to be.  I found much to like about this except the more I read the less I liked the people in the book.  I personally need to care about some of the people.

From DR John:

Loved American Gods.

Former DR td gave it 5 stars on Goodreads over 2 years ago and it has taken me this long to get it on my limited hold list and then the long wait on the queue.

I still wouldn't have it if it weren't for Keith finally get a library card.

What a shame after all the trouble you went through to pick up the old spare set.

Will you give your neighbor a new set to hold onto?  Someone should have a spare for you.

Is this the remake of the MacLaine/Caine film?

Turned on the a/c around noon.  First time this year!  And boy, did it feel good.  It was only in the mid-80s, but the upstairs would have been unlivable tonight, and what a change from what we've been having.  Tomorrow, high 80s, and NYC should be hitting 90, maybe higher.  (I know this sounds like nothing to those of you in the south and southwest.)
