Other than searching for a particular title, how on earth would you find a Vera Hruba Ralston movie on Netflix.  It's one of the problems.  Those things never show up in the things on the home page.

TOD:

There are more false portrayals of music in movies than you could ever shake a stick at, but this sounds like the turkey of all time.  I wonder what frame of mind I should be in, or what influence I should be under, if/when I ever decide to watch it...

TOD2:

As much as I love Robert Altman movies, I must admit Quintet was horrific.
And I love Ingmar Bergman movies, but not The Serpent's Egg.
Fellini's Casanova was unwatchable.

Sooooooo many things yet to do to get our India-US group ready for World Beat this weekend. Our President and  Vice-President are both going to be on vacation during the event  >:(   so a few more duties have fallen on my shoulders.

That wasn't nice of them.

There are rumbles that Mary Rodgers Guettel has died. But I can't find any actual news reports. Does anyone know if that's true?

The UPS drama goes on - this time they needed a signed slip from the person whose shipping number we use, telling them to issue the check to us.  This he did a few hours ago.  We'll see what their next BS is, but they're literally going to get five calls a day until they do what they should have done weeks ago.

This is so sad: Richard Rodgers daughter Mary ihas died. I knew she'd been ill with cancer, but this is really upsetting.

She and I were both huge fans of "Bye and Bye" from Dearest Enemy, and when I restored the score in 2002, I wrote the Act Two Intermezzo as a love letter to her. She was always very kind to me.

I'm just trying to imagine how UPS would be moving on this with any less than the likes of BK on their sorry ass.

Can you see an ordinary consumer going through this?  Forget it.  They'd be making out like bandits on this stuff after everyone gives up.

So sorry that the news about Mary Rodgers is true. I always liked watching or reading her interviews. She was very intelligent, funny and frank.

I have a collection of her children's novels and think I've only read Freaky Friday. I may have to haul it out now and read another one.

Phil Collins is going to be in town next week. Apparently he has been a huge collector of Alamo memorabilia and is donating the entire collection to the mission.

My first thought was, if Phil Collins is in town, is he going to see his musical, Tarzan? I know it's not done everywhere, so this might be a great bit for the community theater that's putting it on. Well, nobody at the theater made the connection with one of the authors of their show being in town. Their PR person doesn't know what to do, and now I'm feeding both the PR person and the theater tips on how to possibly get the two together.

Also Howard Baker, a Tennessee Republican who was on the Senate Watergate Committee has died.

Steve Rossi, the singer in Allen and Rossi, the comedy team has died as well.

Mary was a wonderful woman - worked with her on Hey Love (which I think I had elmore orchestrate a little for the recording) - she was a doll.  I'd heard a few days ago she wasn't doing well and at eighty-four better for her to be at peace - a long and wonderful life.

I got another supervisor on the phone, she acknowledged receipt of the letter faxed and said now they would do another search for the package.  And I went BERSERK.  I told her I was the one guy she did not want to do this with, that I would launch a class action lawsuit and that I had hundreds if not thousands who would go along with it, and that I wasn't getting off the phone until she gave me an exact date the check was being cut and sent.  She heard me loud and clear, apologized on behalf of UPS, and said the new search would only take one day and that the check would definitely be cut on Tuesday and sent - and that she'd just put a rush on it so that I would have it in seventy-two hours after they post it.  I wrote all of that down.

Ridiculous. I hope this is the end for you and the check arrives soon. Have you checked online to see if anyone is selling the CDs for cheap?
